Since our fantastic final day 7_0 win our record at home in the league has been P25 W6 D8 L11. The negative possession play from the back football is costing us dearly at home . Cmon Joey, you've now got some great attacking players in Thomas, Sincs, Brown Collins,Ward, Vale, Bogarde , Marquis. Let's see it 26pts in 25 games...relegation form near enough. Puts a lot of pressure on getting points on our travels. Subsequently points on our travels takes pressure off home form š¤·š½āāļø

I agree with the general concept that our play from the back, pull them out and then attack them is costing us at home. We are really poor at breaking teams down.
Last year I remember it being SO hard to get a shot on goal due to the way we play. Loads of possession but thereās always 3 of their players blocking shots.
I am no football man but it does appear we need to have another way of playing. It seems Barton has his style and thatās that.
Iām wondering whether heās trying to play premiership tactics with league 1 players. We just donāt have the strikers who will score given 2 chances. A lot of teams in this league win matches by accumulating crosses, and percentages suggest one will go in.
Rest assured, Joey isnāt a fool and he will be thinking about this. He may actually be getting there now. I say if we played that game on sat 10 times we win it 7 times. It was only a flukey header and a breakaway from an obvious foul, and a denied penalty that stopped us.
When this style clicks I think we will be unstoppable as it really is the modern, effective style of football which will work up the leagues. āGet it in the mixerā teams like Wycombe and Portsmouth would get mullered in the champ.
Plymouth played a similar way to us, out from the back, as I recall.

Joey needs a plan b to play these sort of teams. We failed last year, not good signs this year. If he remains fixed in our style we will have a lot of frustrating home loses and draws. Ultimately that could cost him his job. Optimistic with this squad plus a new striker tho.

We should have won both games at home so far. We are not far off a team that will turn possession into wins

Amazing how a couple of defeats drags out the same old posters who will never change. As others have said the only season that is important is the current one. The rest are history.Get behind the team, the Manager and the players and lets see where JB takes us. A damn site further than any of our other Managers in the last 20 years would have taken us.

When JB departs he will be judged on where the club is in the league table, not his win record. For example if he gets us to the champ and we finish one place above the relegation zone, his win record will be fairly average but the achievement is enormous. Being a bit pedantic but his win record will largely determine where we are in the table. 80% of fans only see home games, so thatās what theyāll judge him on. I donāt think the majority of fans would be content with an upper mid table finish this season if our home form remains dreadful and we get our wins away from home. Itās an entertainment business at the end of the day. Confident it will improve, itās just frustrating in the meanwhile. Tbh I think we are saying the same thing and thatās the point Iām making, too. At the end of the day the stats from Jan are irrelevant imho. We stayed in League One and thatās what mattered. Iāll judge the team on results this season and thus far theyāre just below where Iād like to be - so no concern tbh unless it remains that way.

That is correct since January 2023 we have won only 2 home games Cheltenham 2-1 on News year day and Charlton on Good Friday 1-0 I have contacted the relevant footballing authorities. Thay have agreed to support a motion at the next AGM along the lines: "We strongly support the view that Bristol Rovers only have to play future HOME matches on Bank Holidays, Special Days and Holy Days. " Seems fair enough to me.

I will always support whoever is in the dugout, but over this past year I've stopped listening to Joey, I'm just a fan, but to have two good widemen putting in crosses last home with two strikers who are not target men surely speaks for itself, at the start of last season Joey said we have signed the best striker in league one he going to get us 20 goals, John's still with us, now Joey says we need a striker a target man, what's happened to change this. UTG.

A damn site further than any of our other Managers in the last 20 years would have taken us.If he's that good what's he been doing since December/January just having a well earned rest? I sense because JB talks the talks poster thinks he's a far better manager than the actual results show. There's no real evidence he can get Rovers any higher up than mid table, even if most of us hope he can. It's pretty clear he didn't learn anything from the Cambridge game and Matt Bloomfield said as much in his post match interview, we're now doing the opposite of what we did under GC, we're now playing attractive losing football. It's now looking like JB's convinced the owners they have to break our transfer record to sign a striker, JB's been backed like no other manager in recent years it's about time he starts repaying that support.

When it all clicks, and it will be soon, we are going to be supersonic! The way we played against Barnsley and Charlton, with determination and pace, was, to me , thrilling! There were flashes of that same brilliance in the early stages of the Wycombe game, some lovely intricate passes between Sinclair and ward I think to create a chance for Collins or brown. When it all connects we will go on a run, both home and away, the like of which has never been seen.
