I quite like the woman commentater on radio Bristol , Bethany something , a bit of fine tuning and possible 5 live material. Btw whatever hapened to Alan Green?
On another poss note ,K brookman recieted zero emails Thank fck
I agree, she is one of the few female commentators that I don't mind listening to - her voice doesn't grate. . I only listened to the Radio Bristol commentary briefly as iFollow suddenly switched quite early on to the commentary from the Sh*t game. I then changed to the Shrewsbury commentary for the rest of the game. From the brief period listening I would say that the female commentor was nowhere near as annoying as the guy that did it earlier in the season who thought that he was the world's greatest football coach and kept going on non-stop about what tactics were being employed and how they should be changed.

Am I the only one to think JM goal looked offside Not when he became 'active' Played the offside rule well. Whether the rule is silly or not is a different argument

Am I the only one to think JM goal looked offside Just watched it a few times on the highlights. Marquis was fine and tbh the lino was 6 yards behind play. Collins though...that pass to him to play the cross looked like it was close.

Having watched the highlights I can see a familiar pattern forming this season.
Other team get the ball forward as quickly as possible and pepper crosses in. Create some chances, albeit run-of-the-mill ones. If Shrews got the first goal then they'd sit in and likely get some points.
Rovers first goal is what they need to do more often, spin the defence around to make more space in midfield.
I feel like this season will be decided by whoever gets the first goal. If the gas get it, I see us getting more. If the opposition get it, I see stodgy slow football and rovers struggling to create chances.

When it happens it looks great. Hopefully the players we have can mean it happens more. But it doesn’t play the percentages like most teams do at this level I agree.

I always thought you always needed defenders in front but not apparently if you’re behind the ball.

A square or pulled pass is onside play regardless of the defenders position. So, JM is a squared pass where he starts behind the ball anyway.. But the ball to Collins beforehand, looks like Collins was close to offside to me.

When the ball is squared, you must have defender behind the attacker, otherwise the linesman will send off the goaltender and award a penalty. (That bit was joking)

Then throw in the fact that players are smart and know how to trick eachother with feints and subtle movements. It's no wonder fans and pundits, even VAR gets challenged on tight calls.

Offside is, now, so confusing. First half Collins was offside when a ball was played forward but did not get that far. Then, not sure how, with Collins still in an offside position the ball was headed back by a Shrew, Marquis was chasing it and Collins was still ahead of play. Collins left it thinking he was offside, Marquis left it because he thought Collins was taking it. If Collins had taken it would he have been offside?
Yes I know you cannot be offside from a back pass but was he still active from the earlier ball?

But by reading this, just sounds like Marquis and Collins weren't on the same page and JM should have continued the attack.

Yes I know you cannot be offside from a back pass but was he still active from the earlier ball? No I watched that with amazement as he was not offside. As the ball was cleared then headed back by a Shrewsbury player it would be classed as a different phase of play. Collins seemed to get confused and thought he was offside so left it. That's my Interpretation of the law anyway.

I really rate Grant Ward & always think our midfield is much stronger when he is in the side , anyone know why he didn’t feature yesterday?

So in the end a great away win … was in the laps of the Gods for over an hour though.
Scores as we saw them …
Cox - 7’ One Smart save and good handling and distribution. Getting better each game.
Hunt - 7. Becoming a real favourite of our group - Hard working and some great blocks in the first half
Taylor - 9 MoM - Got better and better and won everything in the air.
Wilson -7 Cool calm and very effective. Talking to CT constantly.
Grant - 6 Did ok was caught out of position a few times but link up play was decent.
Evans -6 Solid in midfield - silly booking . As LB would love to see him shoot more.
Woods -6 Quieter than previous games but tidy and distribution was ok
Bogarde - 6 Started slowly but burst into life in the second half when he was suddenly everywhere - would love to see him shoot more.
Thomas - 6 Worked hard usually with two markers on him.
Collins -7 Good sense to follow in CTs header - looked lively and took on the defenders more.
Big JM -7 Quiet for an hour but got into the game and pulled their two CBs all over the place. Very well taken goal . Good skipper as well.
Subs used except Grant
McCormick -6 Very lively when he came on - hustling all over the midfield.
Brown - 7 Looked very good and his moving the ball quickly helped set up our first goal.
Finley -6. Didn’t see him do much.
Away Fans - 8 Loud and Proud throughout. Well done all.
JB - 7 Got the subs right this week.
Ref Team - 7 Pretty good - handed out some bookings and when LT tried to be too clever with a free kick he simply shrugged his shoulders and we lost possession.
Shrewsbury -5 Not great and we beat them.
BBC Bristol Team Sheridan 7 Lively and enthusiastic - Needs to recognise players better. Brookman 3 Embarrassing Little Britain type character bumbling along on his free days out.
