I really rate Grant Ward & always think our midfield is much stronger when he is in the side , anyone know why he didn’t feature yesterday? Apparently picked up an achilles tendon injury

Apparently picked up an achilles tendon injury Best midfield three for me would be Ward, Bogarde and Woods with Evans coming off the bench if we need a goal. Finley is fine for cups and if we are leading and need someone to put in a shift, doing the donkey work from the bench, if are winning. To much of a risk to start in the league as always likely to get booked, and that means he reigns himself in. Good squad player though.

Blimey that would be a very defensive starting XI Would we even leave our half with that midfied Must have an ‘out and out’ attacking midfielder if playing with a three imho. I still think 4-2-3-1 is the best fit for the squad we’ve assembled

Dare I ask if anyone knows what happened to the person receiving treatment in the concourse as we left the ground at the end? Seemed to be having resuscitation. Fervently hope outcome was positive.

So in the end a great away win … was in the laps of the Gods for over an hour though. Scores as we saw them … Cox - 7’ One Smart save and good handling and distribution. Getting better each game. Hunt - 7. Becoming a real favourite of our group - Hard working and some great blocks in the first half Taylor - 9 MoM - Got better and better and won everything in the air. Wilson -7 Cool calm and very effective. Talking to CT constantly. Grant - 6 Did ok was caught out of position a few times but link up play was decent. Evans -6 Solid in midfield - silly booking . As LB would love to see him shoot more. Woods -6 Quieter than previous games but tidy and distribution was ok Bogarde - 6 Started slowly but burst into life in the second half when he was suddenly everywhere - would love to see him shoot more. Thomas - 6 Worked hard usually with two markers on him. Collins -7 Good sense to follow in CTs header - looked lively and took on the defenders more. Big JM -7 Quiet for an hour but got into the game and pulled their two CBs all over the place. Very well taken goal . Good skipper as well. Subs used except Grant McCormick -6 Very lively when he came on - hustling all over the midfield. Brown - 7 Looked very good and his moving the ball quickly helped set up our first goal. Finley -6. Didn’t see him do much. Away Fans - 8 Loud and Proud throughout. Well done all. JB - 7 Got the subs right this week. Ref Team - 7 Pretty good - handed out some bookings and when LT tried to be too clever with a free kick he simply shrugged his shoulders and we lost possession. Shrewsbury -5 Not great and we beat them. BBC Bristol Team Sheridan 7 Lively and enthusiastic - Needs to recognise players better. Brookman 3 Embarrassing Little Britain type character bumbling along on his free days out.

Well, happy to give a youngster a break after only what 2 matches? Big difference from radio summariser/reporter to full lead commentator on a live game. Especially as they don’t have multiple TV’s in front of them covering every angle & 6 replays of every incident, like Neville/Carragher and co. It’s a tough gig. A nice change from the usual anyway, get the Lord Byron back or Mansell as co comms to assist, they were excellent.

I dont mind a female commentator but I do find the high pitch excitment tones such as a penalty or goal a touch too much to bear at times. Durden goes down an octave at intense moments rather than up which is a fantastic way of commentating.

How come no players scores pinned thread this season? Have I missed something from ivfk? I messaged IVFK but sadly it seems he will no longer be running the player ratings anymore. He has struggled with time commitments lately also he has had issues regarding logging on to this site with a new lap top. Big shame because he put so much effort into this over the years (nine in fact) but we thank him for his excellent efforts. If anyone else fancies taking this on please message me.

May I echo those sentiments Russ, thoroughly enjoyed that thread, never realised how time goes by especially for people like me of a senior age.

Its funny the "grating" or over-excited thing associated with female commentators. I think it is more what you are used too. Remember thinking this way a few years back, now I barely even register when it's a female commentator as it has become more common. Its the same watching womens football with big crowds not dominated by adult men. It sounds "wrong" for quite a while til it becomes "normal".

I am notba fan of women commentators (wether they have played the game or not)I guess its what I grew up with however times have changed these past number of years.
My favourite always will be the late Colin Howlett.........
