Really find it baffling that some people can’t understand there’s idiots on both sides. Idiots who graffiti things and idiots who go looking for a punch up to protect things .

In a proper democratic constitution the people would vote for a monarchy. Our has come about by force, the current incumbents by agreement of an unelected (in the main) elite, over the centuries. I'm not against a vote, however plenty of republics have come into being through force too. I think it was Voltaire who said 'whenever England stop liking their king, they get rid of him' and we certainly have a history of that. The real power is in the hands of Parliament which is where it should be. I have, during my life, wanted to believe that. Now I know it's not true. In the main the only people with any real authority in our system are those approved by an unelected elite. Step forward Boris Johnson, darling of the elite, supported by propaganda perpetrated by the media controlled (in the main) by the same elite. Local political parties are controlled from the centre. Anyone who puts themself forward is vetted and approved or not by that centre. I witnessed this first hand in 1998 with my interactions. The days of local people choosing their representative is just nostalgic memory. |
