No, it was reported in the papers Mail & Sun (?) then regurgitated by bbc etc . That’s how it works , that’s how they make a mug out of you 🙄🇬🇧👍 What a load of tosh. So BBC ITV C4 Sky and all tabloids only get their news from the Mail.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Oh gawd 🙄 The story you believed was rightwing culture nonsense put out by rightwing papers. So it got traction as people who want to believe this nonsense, get all angry about it ( you !) . Have you never watched sky , bbc programs etc where they chat about what the papers say ? These stories are pumped out to get people like you hot under the collar . Looks like it worked 🙄

Good to see the truce holding, just, and some of the hostages released.
In the meantime, HMS Diamond is deploying to the Gulf region, it's an air defence ship so may have something to do with the threat of missiles being fired, similar to the US ships recently.

Very good to see less fighting and more talking, long may it continue (aka hope no one - an individual, a group or a 'government' messes it up...) Diamond is seemingly being deployed to help keep Iran quiet - as well as supporting Hamas they have also been poking the US in the Gulf in the last few days. Not sure if Diamond is relieving an existing asset or will be an addition to what's currently in the area but good to see the wider issues in the area also being looked at.

As if one British ship is going to keep 89 million people "quiet" Oh the delusion of the British military...or more likely the propaganda machine

HMS Diamond is a Type 45 Destroyer, primarily designed for anti-air warfare against targets such as fighter aircraft, drones sea-skimming anti-ship missiles. As well as backing Hamas politically and financially, Iran has been making noises about disrupting merchant shipping through the Gulf and has been backing Houthi rebels in Yemen who have been doing exactly that. It's not one British ship vs 88m people, it's multiple US, UK and French ships protecting a small but significant stretch of international water....

What I find amazing is that people actually lap this stuff up. The original American deployment was to bolster Israel's defence against attack from the sea from HAMAS or their sympathisers and or missile attack from Iran. The rabble in Yemen were not it. But the 100,000 trained and armed Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon are, and the porous border in the Golan Heights would have hardly been protected a carrier fleet in the Med, unless the Americans decided to enter the fray and launch air attacks from those carriers. Would they? Because if they did the Middle East would explode. And they know it. So the real constraint on Iran is economic. Their economy has been in a handbasket for decades, they will be rewarded for good behaviour (unless the Republican loonies win in the US next year) which is exactly why they have held Hezbollah under constraint. Absolutely nothing to do with one of our ships in the Med, nor the French. The Americans will do as they wish.

On Sky they just said it was for flying drones over Gaza looking for hostages…… at least that’s what I think I heard. Had tv on in background.

The US carrier groups are separate to our deployment, she'll be there to escort shipping either through the Red Sea area or in the Straight of Hormuz. The Houthies are known to be attacking shipping and have fired along the Red Sea too.

The French navy have shot down two Houthi drones over the Red Sea. US and Britain say their navies shot down 15 attack drones over the Red Sea"...Earlier this month, three commercial ships in the Red Sea were struck by ballistic missiles fired from Houthi-controlled Yemen..." - more and more now, plus Maersk (the world’s biggest shipping company), CMA CGM (French) and Hapag-Lloyd (German) pausing all ship movements through the affected area... The original American deployment was to bolster Israel's defence against attack from the sea from HAMAS or their sympathisers and or missile attack from Iran. The rabble in Yemen were not it.......they are now....

Looks like the attacks on shipping is widening: "Pentagon: Drone attack came from Iran More details have come to light on the drone attack reported earlier, with the US Department of Defence claiming it came from Iran and hit a chemical tanker in the Indian ocean. A Pentagon spokesperson said: "The motor vessel CHEM PLUTO, a Liberia-flagged, Japanese-owned, and Netherlands-operated chemical tanker was struck at approximately 10am local time (6am UK time) today in the Indian Ocean, 200 nautical miles from the coast of India, by a one-way attack drone fired from Iran." The Pentagon added a fire was extinguished on board and nobody was hurt in the Iranian attack, which it says was the country's seventh on commercial shipping since 2021. A spokesperson for the Iranian delegation at the UN did not immediately respond to a request for comment." news.sky.com/story/israel-gaza-latest-hamas-war-updates-sky-news-blog-12978800?postid=6967103#liveblog-body

I guess all these different militaries (trying to stop attacks), shipping companies (diverting shipping at a huge cost in terms of both time and money) and journalists reporting on these decisions are probably all wrong....

The Pentagon stated that the attack was "in the Indian Ocean, 200 nautical miles from the coast of India, by a one-way attack drone fired from Iran." Was that 200 from the east coast, the southern tip or the west coast? The West coast is generally described as the Arabian Ocean. So if it was 200 miles south of India that's a hell of a long way to fly from Iran whose coast line borders the Strait of Hormuz around to the Arabian Ocean. And not be picked up? A bit of tub thumping going on in the Pentagon methinks
