Reports saying that US and Jordan have shot down several missiles and the RAF has joined in patrolling Isreali skies.

I'm hoping this is just tokenism and posturing, but I wouldn't trust Netanyahu not to react further. Iran has already detained an Isreali flagged ship.

Amazing that the USA air and sea forces, the Jordanian Air Force and the RAF can all get involved in shooting down missiles and Drones (successfully it appears) but cannot organise an aid shipment(s) to relieve the near famine conditions affecting 100,000s of children in Gaza.

Cue political leaders standing in front of flags claiming this and that.

I am being simplistic I know.
But last night happened because everyone was united against the threat.
It is clear that not everyone is united in resolving the conditions in Gaza.
The threat of course was crystallised by the Israeli decision to bomb another country's Embassy/Consulate.
Easy play for Netanyahu, he gambled that in provoking Iran the USA and the rest would fall into line and hey presto. No headlines with pictures of wounded, starving or dead children in Gaza, the demonstrators in Tel Aviv go home.

What's more amazing is we can't get ourselves organised to do the same for Ukraine when it's on our doorstep!!

"Within the last hour, Joe Biden has given a speech at the White House where he announced a new comprehensive ceasefire and hostage deal.

The three-phase plan involves the return of Israeli hostages from Gaza and reconstruction of civilian areas.

The first phase of the proposed deal would be a ceasefire lasting six weeks, during which Israel and Hamas would negotiate a permanent end to the fighting in Gaza, Mr Biden said.

If the negotiations take longer than six weeks, the ceasefire would continue for as long as it takes to strike a deal, he added.

Humanitarian assistance would surge during the first phase, with 600 trucks being allowed into Gaza each day.

Phase two would involve Hamas handing over all remaining hostages and Israel withdrawing all of its forces from Gaza.

The final phase would be about a "major reconstruction plan", according to the president.

"Everyone who wants peace now must raise their voices and work to make it real. It's time for this war to end," Mr Biden said during the surprise address.

He also urged other officials within Israel to back the proposal, arguing that Hamas was no longer capable of carrying out another attack on Israelis like the one on 7 October.

He said: "Israel has made their proposal. Hamas says it wants a ceasefire. This deal is an opportunity to prove whether they really mean it." "

Oh I agree, but what a shame that over 1000 innocent Israelis had to be slaughtered, raped, beheaded and taken hostage in the first place for Israel to have to retaliate.

Hamas wants to wipe out Israel, but doesn't have the manpower or the equipment. If they could they would.



Israel has the manpower and the equipment to wipe out Hamas but chooses not to. If they chose to they could.
