We lost and the usual crackpots are calling for the manager to be sacked. Same fuckers who'll be nowhere near the site when we win. UTFG 🏴☠️ This post is spot on. Got bored reading the thread on page 3 as I knew who and what would be said. It hurts when we lose and there are plenty of knee jerk reactions to it but for me I like to take time and reflect before saying anything. It's not easy to assemble a squad and get them to gel that's a given in this game and we have not had a settled side from the off due to injuries, suspensions and that's just part of the game its the same for all clubs. JB isn't everyone cup of tea and I get that but to call for his head now is ridiculous and I have seen it many times fans are impatient and want success me included but if you stick it out and get behind the team things will change, sacking a manager should only happen when form is terrible Cheltenham and FGR come to mind this season and understandable that they chose this path. Our form has been up and down but the you can see the nucleus of a good side and with players coming back from injury it won't be long till things improve for the good. I just hope the atmosphere on Tuesday isn't toxic as that won't help as we have a part to play in this and if we can stay positive which i know is hard at times it will all come together. UTG

Isn't that how lower league football works? The manager brings in his mates as coaches etc and a few of his former players to form on the bases of the team?
Only at Championship level and above do you really get DoF's working independently from the manager.

UTG What nucleus of a good side can you see, we play nice football for about 15 mins, the opposition wake up score a couple of goals then just sit back and let us attack them until we get a cheap red card effectively ending the game. We've made zero progress since last January, apart from the 4 relegated sides plus PV & Cheltenham we have the worst PPG this calendar in 2023. Hopefully the new owners are putting pressure on JB and are not just saying they can see progress so keep up the good work until May.

UTG It isn’t just about this season though is it? Our form since the turn of the year has been very poor. Some of the loanees he had last year are playing championship and premier league football this year, yet we were awful. It really isn’t unreasonable to ask questions at this point about if he’s the man to take the club forward.

apparently they were going to give some sort of statement….. And still we wait ? 🙄 I've mentioned this in another thread but the silence from our new owners does concern me slightly. Maybe that's just the way they conduct their business but it makes me uneasy. They are probably the least communicative owners in the football league. It is very strange that we heard a short exert from them on joining months ago and literally nothing since. 🤷 Did you not find it odd that Wael jumped in on 2-3 of the questions in that single interview, as if the guy couldn’t speak English ? In the brief replies he gave he came across as someone who would not make off of the cuff remarks and seemed very grounded.

The Peterborough, Oxford and Burton games were identical in how we started the games bar Burton we scored first. In the other two we started ever so well, Peterborough were under the clash for the first 20 mins, Oxford should have been losing……..but in all cases, the opposition managers work us out, they tactically outsmart Barton and he doesn’t know what to do to change it. It’s the usual throw on the subs stuff, we don’t come back and win games that often when losing. Stubborn, we are not Man City, he won’t change his principles, he openly laughs at managers how they set up their teams, he said it about Ainsworth at Wycombe, Joey you have never ever got us in 6th place for one game since you have been here?!Roadman, I’m no supporter of JB but until he’s not our manager I’ll always support the BRFC manager. I’ve agreed with much you’ve said Roadman and can respect your views esp you seeing a good many games, but let’s not lose accuracy when criticising people. I believe when we beat Oxford last August with a Marquis goal we went top of the table, albeit it being a lunchtime kick off. the gist of what you’ve said I agree with. UTG!

The lack of communication is a bit of a worry, even Wael has gone to ground a bit and we know TG’s interview was scrapped. They will have to speak to us soon if results don’t change, Evans would love to beat us and then we come to Cobblers and their manager who won’t need to do a team talk after the 7-0 last game of the season. Some on here are right to be fair, he deserves the next two home games but even though we are not allowed to mention last seasons form, it reminds me of the Trolls 5-0 at Orient that night. I knew that evening he had run out of ideas whilst his senior pros were not what they used to be, Campbell etc and he relied on them so much. Barton is like this with Coutts and Finley, the latter can’t do it anymore and the new ones don’t work to his ways. Barton spoke pragmatic and honest after the game, he couldn’t blame a Luke Thomas, even with the red we were already losing. He came across deflated, that’s Bonner, Ferguson, Manning and Maamria who have tactically outsmarted him, I think he’s ran out of ideas. I think a Cogs/Warnock/Wilder would make us hard to beat straight away, would play on winning the second ball more (not possession based football) and ask the likes of Finely to press for the ball. He’s ran out of ideas because he won’t change his principles, Bonner and Maamria were happy for us to have possession, Rodman kept saying that Burton only had 2 shots, same as Cambridge, they scout us and execute their tactics brilliantly. This side is a DC side when he left and Cogs came in, Martin is your focal point, you change our style of play, make us hard to beat and we win more, a new guy gets more out of this lot. We are obsessed with playing from the back Pep style, but we don’t have wingers or driving midfielders to break the lines. Do our fans not realise what the opposition are doing to us away from home, don’t they see theirs and our tactics? At Oxford, same again, we should have been winning, we left the back door open, Bodin scores, we are not hard to beat and once we go behind we are easy to finish off. you may as well ring jurassic Park to see if they can provide a up to date list on your dinosaur thinking of management But a good manager will play to the league we are in. We have seen that we do better and even well V sides that play the better style but we keep getting done for physicality and pace.

Understand some o th frustration but there is real signs it’s gonna get much better soon, some o th intensity an passing play is a joy ta watch at times, we are starting strong an on th front foot, an creating plenty o chances. Sadly a few injuries an a few red cards has really undone us an our hard work lately.
For balance on form, las 6 games we is slap bang mid table (played 6, won 3, lost 3, GD +2), we has lost two away games against th 2nd an 3rd form teams with most folk unanimously calling us th better team v Oxford.
Th signs are there, I think we are definitely gonna get stronger as th season progresses, still got a funny feeling we may be in the mix come April.
Get th beers stocked up troops th Gas are Coming! 💪🏼

And to be fair, Roady isn’t biting and is spitting facts which I agree with.
We do need to tighten up at the back and we don’t have the players who can currently play the passing game.
Every defeat bar Oxford have come against teams who are low block, low possession, direct and physical. We just can’t cope against those teams or rather, we don’t tactically adjust to cope against those teams.
We made it easy for Burton today, even though they are on a roll.
Barton seems to have everyone under a spell for some reason. We’re 17th in the league, 19th if you adjust the points deductions for Reading and Wigan. Its groundhog season so far despite his chat and even I, probably the most objective when it comes to giving managers time, is starting to get fed up with it.
He needs to win 3 out of his next 4 league games to keep us in the hunt.

The issue is, other teams have big, fast and strong strikers whereas we have a very lightweight front line.
Other teams muscle through our back line and our forwards just face a sea of large defenders and can’t do much to break through it. Chris Martin is the nearest we have and he’s not fit, clearly.
It’s like a milder version of that Garner team when we had Hanlan as our main striker. I think we have enough quality to get some points but at present we are going to need a lot of the ball and a lot of chances to win games.

We still had the promotion "bounce" when we went top, since that fizzled out we've struggled to pick up any points away from the Mem, looking at the results over the 3 seasons JB's managed Rovers in L1 you do have to question if he's up to the task of managing a L1 side, apart from the start of last season he's probably averaging less than a 1 PPG.

I would guess flexibility is a good thing to have as a manager, but he contradicts himself all the time - we need young players to mould - no we need experience, we need to play fast - no we need possession, we need 3 at the back, no we should have a back 4 etc etc. This from MTFFC sums it up for me. Also went from we need speedy no 9 in A May to a JCH is the answer with no other options in between We now have lots pf experienced, injured, players. We have no players being molded for the future, that belong to us!Hoole, Gordon, Connolly, Macca, Jed Ward, Lawrence not getting much of a look in this season despite being highly rated by JB before. No plan for the future, looks like an attempt by Barton to push up the league to improve his cv. This is what I'd like to see in the future , yes it's all very well bringing in decent players on loan , but the clubs got the look of a revolving door
never settling on a team. Of course that all starts at the Quaters , and JB or whoever in the future's ability to develop them into first team starters.
Plus of course the sell on value ( inevitable if successful ) , which puts us on a healthy conveyer belt.

We are just missing the end product it's as simple as that for me.

Best squad ever but apparently a few injuries are why we’ve been so bad….irony.
