Dan Hargreaves said Rovers are holding a press conference in an hour. Will be interesting to see what they say, and who from the club is actually present.

So you think he's gone because of results? What were our expectations this season btw? If it was comfortable mid table, that was an easy one. Well according to many it’s our best squad ever and Joey is a genius so I expected us to be challenging for top 6 but would have been content with top 10. Results this season are a continuation of last seasons poor form and there’s no signs of it getting better. His league one record has been much discussed on here the last few days and you can’t shy away from the facts that it wasn’t good reading. Delighted to have acted quickly on this and got him gone to give a new man or woman the chance to come in and asses the current team and identify what they want in January. Who said JB was a genius? I’m guessing if there were “many” saying that you could easily point us in the right direction as I’ve not seen that said on here. |

There's Rovers fans and there's Barton fans i guess. I'm glad he's gone, I had such high hopes but he just didn't deliver I’ve been a Barton fan whilst he was Rovers manager. Now he’s gone I don’t give a stuff what he does next and won’t follow his career. I’m probably still regarded as a member of his fan club or a fanboy though 🤷♂️ |

No need for that comment really is there. Emotions are running high and some are feeling disappointed/upset that he has left. Just because you wanted him gone and are now happy dosent mean others are. Some people’s dislike of Barton was more important than their attachment to Rovers. I’ve supported Rovers for over 50 years since I was 9; in that time we’ve had some great managers and some that were absolute dogsh*t, but I never let my dislike or hatred of any of them stop me going to support my team and my club, even Buckle and Garninho (who I would’ve quite happily fed to the sharks). And before all the usual suspects start banging on, I’m not claiming to be a better fan or supporter than anyone else, just saying that Rovers are my club for life, but managers are temporary and I wouldn’t stay away from them just because I happen to take a dislike to whoever’s managing the team during any given week. Can I just say I am not one of these people.
Rovers always comes first for me.

I don't know how you can be a gashead for any decent amount of time and not be extremely nervous about the appointment of a new manager if things aren't already at rock bottom.

I was 50/50 if I'm honest. I would probably have given him a few more games but if you look at our points return in 2023 and some of our performances, I can see why they've made the decision.
Lincoln sacked their manager recently and are 5 points better off than us.
Maybe if JB had been less outspoken - I could have worded that very differently - he may have been given more time.
As I say, I can't decide whether it's a good move or not. I guess only time will tell.

Like so many I felt so so optimistic at the start of this season. It’s not turned out the way so many felt. Ultimately the results were not good enough and now we close this door of our history with Joey and look forward to a new chapter.
Joey will be remembered for the incredible final-day promotion to League One in 2022. Some great results prior to the incredible 7-0 victory over Scunthorpe. That was some season.
Ultimately, he fell short and paid the price. Over the next few days we will know more about the background and the behind the scenes knowledge to this sacking. The club have been decisive.
I remain optimistic about this season and look forward to the next chapter.
Time to get behind the club and look upwards.

I think we’ll kick on with a new appointment.
The club wanted to make a statement of a signing in January and didn’t skimp with the players being bought in. I don’t think we’ll hire a journeyman manager or a has been. Or worse another Garner style manager.
Let’s hope we can get behind whoever they get in and that it doesn’t take weeks for the appointment to be made as was the case under previous ownerships.

Doubt if there’s ever been a more marmite manager in football, but at least we might get a manager who’s happy to talk to the local press & not have to worry about after match interviews, when something being said will shame & embarrass the club.
Also I would imagine Luke Thomas & Belshaw may be quite pleased with the announcement, I do wonder if the dressing room has been the happiest of places lately.

Are you ignoring the PPG average over a lengthy amount of games which sees us fighting relegation most league 1 seasons? |
