My thoughts after reading his statement was: Is it Gas Head or Gashead? Maybe Joey didn't really get us after all. Oh he did !!!! 💙utg Nah, don't think he did. Otherwise he would have shown more respect to his players and to the fans and not given the dark side the ammunition to just take the p*ss out of us. His comments were as cringe as "Europe in 5 years"

I’ve been a Barton fan whilst he was Rovers manager. Now he’s gone I don’t give a stuff what he does next and won’t follow his career. I’m probably still regarded as a member of his fan club or a fanboy though 🤷♂️ Well, I am a Barton fan, wish him every success for the future! 💙Utg Look on the bright side. You get to follow the mighty rovers and if/when he gets another job you can go and see them also. You can be born again follower of JB. Hallelujah brother.

Pretty sure this only happened because I officially joined the Barton out club after Tuesdays game. I hold a lot of sway in the boardroom. 😉 Excellent! Now you’re itk can you tell us who’s coming in. 😉 UTG!

This decision isn’t purely on football reasons. Let’s hope the grass is greener. Agree there is a sense that something happened behind the scenes. Wasn't that the same at Fleetwood?

I hated Barton before he came to us but I thought he was an excellent manager at Fleetwood and was excited to see what he could do for us.
In the next few months i swatted up on his life story through relevent media and books and started to actually change my opinion on him.
His interviews were brilliant ( yes even the ones where he went in on people ) at least it wasn't like listening to Pearson's drones or tisdales warblings. Joey was a breath of fresh air.
I will remember his time with us fondly he brought this club back together from the pits tisdale and garner had left it in. I feel sad he has now gone and definitely feel he's been sacked far too soon.
Thanks for the memories Joe you will be missed by many gasheads including me.

I was 50/50 if I'm honest. I would probably have given him a few more games but if you look at our points return in 2023 and some of our performances, I can see why they've made the decision. Lincoln sacked their manager recently and are 5 points better off than us. Maybe if JB had been less outspoken - I could have worded that very differently - he may have been given more time. As I say, I can't decide whether it's a good move or not. I guess only time will tell. Good post. I’d have given BG a a few more games back along and also Tis so I’d have given JB a few games as well. Amongst all the stuff in the last two and a half years once Wael had appointed such a divisive character it was unlikely that Wael would have got rid of him for anything other than results. But once he sold his majority to someone else then that dynamic was liable to change and it has done, today. BG lost his job after the Fleetwood match, Tis after the Accrington away match and JB has after the Stevenage result. We rescued a point with a worldie but the performance was lethargic and his post match comments were not accepted by the new owners in the way Wael always did. So whilst I would have given him a few more matches the owners didn’t and in the end my views are largely unimportant but theirs are vital. UTG!

I can help with this: We have assembled the best squad of players since Twerton Park era, some say ever. We have spent more on wages this season that ever before. Well so what, we have spent some money at long last, so we are now a club that can just sack managers because we aren't at the top of the table. What a silly place this has become. We've played 13 games, we have 1 or 2 games in hand on some teams above us, 7 points off playoffs. We have indeed played 13 games and only won 4 , in as I keep saying a crap league one , on top of our awful results since January , sackable? Yes!

Whether that means that’s the correct call… much less clear.

I echo those sentiments, loved his passion his interviews his energy all manner of things won’t be as vibrant without him, feel genuinely gutted never forget that amazing promotion!!! Thank you 💙hope you find a job closer to Georgia and your four beautiful children Good luck 🤞 from a sad 😢 Gashead

He's had a massive outpouring of support all over social media today. I don't think I've ever seen as much love for a manager that has been sacked as this. It seems 95% of the fan base don't want to see him fired.

It almost sounds like you want the rest of the season to be bad, just to say "told you so". The fact of the matter is that if the season turns out to be rubbish, it's due to whoever comes in being sick with JB players. I was led to believe that with another managers players, you get a free pass on relegation.

I’d bet good money on him ending up somewhere like Wigan. Tranmere. Tranmere would be ideal for him- close to his family 👍🤞💙

That worries me too. JB has been instrumental in attracting a much higher calibre of player to the Gas since he arrived. Remember what we had before? Who's going to be our scout now, do we even have a recruitment team? I guess we’ll find out over the coming months and years, hopefully whoever takes his place will have good contacts. I’ve always liked Roy Keane , he’s done ok as a manager not great but got Sunderland promoted to the Prem and kept them up if I remember rightly and was average at Ipswich I think ? He’s made it clear that he’d like to get back in to management and is a born winner. He’d obviously have good contacts and wears his heart on his sleeve but is generally more respectful and professional than Barton. I’d rather someone like Keane than a Garner / Tisdale type anyway. Also I know he’s generally hated by us Bristolians but I’ve always admired Warnock as a manager , obviously that wouldn’t be.a Long term appointment but then again these days who is ? And I think he’d be more likely to get us in the top 6 than most. I'd take Keano in a heartbeat, knows his footie and is a seasoned top level pro miles ahead of Joey. Won't happen but worth a try if they've loads of money to throw around. Be entertaining if nothing else.

Suggest you read all the messages online and not just this forum before making comments like that that you can't back up. I have read messages on twitter. From what I can see, maybe 50 messages of support. How many messages are you seeing? 50 messages is hardly 95% of the fan base.
