I’d be interesting in Mark Hughes, our ex player and Plymouth assistant manager. He’s played under John Coleman and Barton, more importantly Schumacher and Plymouth are doing things every so well down there. He would know a lot of the squad, knows the club, used to working for clubs with limited resources. I look at Arteta and the new Leicester Manager, both worked under Pep, both gone onto be good managers. Schumacher obviously is a good manager, promotions with two different clubs, maybe Mark Hughes has learned from him, he has leadership skills as well being a captain on his playing days. Sometimes going left field works I thought the same, he's always very vocal on the sideline, when you see Plymouth play. If the board are to spend some money, they might want someone with a bit more experience though.

Been awake since 0430 this morning (an ill son induced bit of insomnia) so I have been looking into manager stats and watching a few videos of their teams. Sad I know. There is one outstanding candidate for me which would require us paying compensation for, who at every club he has been at has achieved play offs and promotions at every single club he has been at is Dave Challinor. Overall win % of 53.6% over 685 games. 5 promotions at NL and EFL level. 4 play off achievements and 2 trophy wins as well as 3 manager of the year awards throught the NL levels. Interviewed for the Charlton job but unsure if he turned it down or didnt get it, either way he is "the" outstanding candidate. Plays lovely football from the back with an emphasis of overloading the boxes from the flanks. Andy Whing at Solihull Moors is another brilliant candidate but lacks in experience. 136 games as a manager and a 52.9% win rate he got Banbury promoted as champions from the SL and stabalised them in the NLN before taking over at Solihull Moors lifting them from lower mid table/relegation places to competing in the top 4 on a very modest budget. Manager of the month for August. Will certainly find himself as a manager inside the EFL this year and has a similar playing style to Ian Evatt at Bolton. Of the frees linked: John Eustace - A total of 173 games as a manager with a 45% win rate is an extremely good return achieving a 53% win rate at Kidderminster and getting them into the NL play offs 2 seasons in a row being dubbed the "Barcelona of the NL". Turned Birmingham City from being perennial relegation candidates to a midtable finish in his first season he had them sat 6th in the table when he was replaced by Wayne Rooney. A manager who plays out from the back but with an emphasis of a strong defence (being a defender himself) A prime candidate which we should be approaching at the very least. Neil Harris, although blotting his copybook at Gillingham, both Millwall and Cardiff havent had managers with a win % as high as Harris's since he was there. Both suffering of high expectations of challenging at the sharp ends of the leagues, Cardiff in particular have shown up to be perennial championship strugglers since. An overall win % of 39.3 from 400 games is a decent return. I'm not sure he is the right fit for us. Leam Richardson - A win % of 38.71 seems low but doesnt tell all of his story. A torrid time at Accrington Stanley started his managerial career but became Paul Cooks assistant at Chesterfield, Portsmouth and Wigan winning 2 promotions as his assistant. Won L1 manager of the season and promotion with Wigan in 21/22. A good candidate who plays a very attacking style of football. Definately one we should look at. I'd be very surprised by Dave Challinor, Stockport are on an upward curve and he's never spent any time during his near 30 year career South of Stockport. Whing I find very interesting, success wherever he's gone during his short career but would be a big punt with his experience. It could absolutely work though, especially if we went down the route of a Trolls & Lennie scenario. Eustice will get a Championship job soon imo. Harris's stats at Gillingham are slightly skewed by what a mess they were when he took over. Wouldn't be against him, quite a boring but solid appointment. Richardson could be interesting, but again has never worked down South... I think with Challinor it would depend on whether he sees what future there is with the club and Stockport will top out at some point in the very near future. Like I said, Charlton interviewed him after they sacked Holden but I dont know why it didnt go any further. Richardson was with Cook at Portsmouth...I know its not quite as far south as the Isle of Wight but its still fairly southerly...

Please no. Holdens record isnt inspiring at all even if he wasnt a City Manager. I dont think the board and Cotts would get on. Interestingly my cousin is now at Shrewsbury as Head of Recruitment and he has uncovered some of the mess left behind post Cotterill and its absolutely no surprise they got rid of him. Its a definate no from me.

Stockport have big plans, there's currently visions of developing Edgeley Park... They even have some drawings! At the moment, in a 5-7 year period I think Stockport are arguably more of a solid base especially with Challinor having his squad. Can we rule Richardson out of the Newport IOW job then?

We are a joke if considering replacing Joey with either of two managers that have had no success in recent years. Cotterill called us Ragbag on Radio Bristol, openly mocking us. Holden is another Garner.

Would much prefer Karl Robinson to Steve Cotteril or Dean Holden. Would be number one choice, in fact, if considering the realistic options.

Jeez. People saying wilder, be prepared to regret the Barton sacking… wilder wouldn’t reply to an email from us let alone take the job This. I bet they are having a good chuckle on OTIB about some of the names being suggested on here.

Karl Robinson is assistant at Leeds isn't he ? would have been a decent option but can't see him walking from that.

The same people on here wanted Trollope out - Look how that ended up !
The same people on here wanted DC out - Look how that ended up !
The same people on here wanted Barton out - Lets see how that ends up !
Beyond belief that some are calling for Holloway and some for DC - Some think Cotterill would be a good fit - FFS people wake up !
This could be good sense by the Board or the biggest mistake since Garner - there are some very decent managers out there and some with not so good records who when they fit into the right club will do very well.
I get to the Mem early on match days and watch the warm ups etc - good to see some of the managers really close with their teams. I truly cannot see is prising someone out of role and fully expect it to be someone out of job -
As a few have said earlier whoever comes in will be inheriting a decent squad but I will not be surprised to see some loanees sent back in January potentially unless they really up their game -
Watch the backroom gaps start to appear as well - Many will leave when a better opportunity arises and if Barton does go to somewhere like Tranmere then they could go on mass.
As for my choice of manager it would be someone like Chris Wilder / Dean Smith but I am delusional I know - I fully expect the Cowleys to be right up there in the interview mix, along with Dean Holden.

Antonio Conte is out of work as well. Yes i agree .... Wael is friends with Zidane as well. Won't be surprised to see some 'bigger names' in the mix - as i said though we could get an average manager who blends in really well and does well - equally one with a track record who crashes and burns ....
