Only toying with you Pirate! Point is, it’s easy to find fault with any manager Some guys just don’t fit at certain times with certain clubs I’m still in the keep Mangan and Whelan for this season, I wouldn’t be giving silly 2/3 year contracts, let him know the jobs there to be earned over a season, then we can assess then No stand out candidates for me thus far and it may well rock the boat if we have a new man with completely new tactics Whoever is in charge I’ll fully support, got my tickets for Derby, managed to persuade my son after his mental scarring after Cambridge UTG I agree that "some guys just don’t fit at certain times with certain clubs" which is why I previously said to daniel300380 that Taylor "did a good job at Exeter, but I just think it was the right fit with him at the club." We have similar Championship ambitions to Rotherham and are a similar sized club to them and his record there is poor. Personally I would look at the work highly-regarded Marcus Flitcroft has been doing at Exeter these past 5 years as Head of Recruitment and Performance Analysis and what impact he had behind the scenes and see if he would be worth recruiting to a similar role here. I could see us recruiting Flitcroft. He didn't follow Taylor to Rotherham but Rotherham already had a head of recruitment so maybe didn't want another. Gary Caldwell apparently recruited somebody else as well a shaving Flitcroft. I think Wayne Carlisle will join too once all the politics have played out.

Flitcroft is highly-rated by the board there and they will probably fight hard to keep him. I expect Carlisle will join soon if/when terms can be agreed between all parties. I think it is vital we invest in the support staff and try and identify the best possible candidates for each role. I like the job Simon Wilson is doing at Stockport as DoF and if we could find someone of that ilk we won't go far wrong. I'd love us to get the development squad back and 2 or 3 scouts focused solely on the non-league scene and try and pick up a gem or two. It has served us well over the years and the gems are out there if you are prepared to search hard enough and give them a chance. Someone monitoring the foreign market too following the recent transfer rule changes.

Nah I'm not buying it. Nobody drifted like he did yesterday, and he's in the drivers seat. I still don't think he gets it. You clearly don’t have any understanding of how bookies odds work. Boom!! Let's be having ya!

Wow, it seems so quiet and peaceful today. My mind is still blown after the last 3 years or so! Onwards and upwards! Any fans of JB I really urge you to watch the full James English podcast, I think you might change your mind. How on earth was he ever in charge of our club?!? Glad to be moving on! Last from me on that man. Phew!

Thing is we've not had that anyway, the structure is a mess. Investing in the right support staff, infrastructure, scouting and recruitment departments will largely determine whether he succeeds or not and whether we are serious about moving forwards as a club. Matt Taylor: "Bristol Rovers fans are at a point where they want to see that progression. They want to feel it. I'm sure they've not been hurt. That's the wrong way to describe it. But they've seen what's happened to Bristol City and thought, why can't that be us?"
"And every football fan, myself included, you yearn for that. That's what you want. You want to see it and you want to feel it and you want to have those good times and Bristol Rovers has had some fantastic times. So there's no reason why we can't push forward. As long as there's the backing there and the infrastructure and the investment from the owners."

How did Matt Taylor's ECFC team perform when playing us during his spell as the Grecians Gaffer?
13th Nov 2018 Exeter City v Bristol Rovers W 2-0 Football League Trophy 21st Aug 2021 Exeter City v Bristol Rovers W 4-1 League Two 10th Nov 2021 Exeter City v Bristol Rovers W 5-3 Football League Trophy 26th Feb 2022 Bristol Rovers v Exeter City D 1-1 League Two 01st Oct 2022 Exeter City v Bristol Rovers D 2-2 League One
Two of these fixtures saw us torn apart in the first 30 minutes of the match.
His coaching team identified a "structural weakness" in the BRFC set-up.
A good starting point in any attempt to establish a revised pattern of play.

it was good to hear the usual crap this club has a big following it is a sleeping giant all the fans get behind the team and who knows how far we can go. this club has been in division three of the league for far to long promises are easy to make the only way this club will make any dent on this division or any division is money poured into it and a new ground it will never happen so be glad you joey haters but beware of a wolf in sheeps clothing i come to you with cap in hand!

We've had money poured into the squad haven't we ? Enough that most of us thought should be enough to challenge this season. The money planned to be spent on JCH too probably would have helped paper over some cracks, but really our system under Barton rarely worked in League 1, and was seemingly easy to play against. I enjoyed some of his time here, the promotion obviously, and flashes of greatness when key players were in form. But ultimately, we were inconsistent and erratic, rather like the man himself. A half decent manager who plays players in their favoured positions consistently should be able to get this team into or near the play offs and if Barton was honest with himself he'd agree. That did not look likely, or at least a fresh set of eyes of the new owners didn't think it was. I backed him when he was our manager, but now glad he's not our problem anymore.
