I was a big JB supporter, but I’ll get behind the new guy because I’m not fickle enough to declare *delete as appropriate* (not going to another home until he’s gone, don’t like the style of football, embarrassing signings, biggest budget in years, DC is the better
Some of us have started to sound like the entitled Teds.
Anyway in a months time Taylor will smash our transfer record and then the pressure will really be on

Every player and manager says the same thing at every club 🙄 Joey left us in the same position as he started . Hopefully the new guy can do better. Hate or love Joey, he left us in a much better position TBH he left us more or less where he found us whilst Wael's probably £6m+ out of pocket, whilst the squad's improved that wasn't hard nothing else has really changed.

Can’t resist, what did JB spend £6m on in the last 2 years? Wages sanctioned by the board? Transfer fees below any of our competitors? Redeveloping the Mem/Quaters? I’ve definitely missed something here

Why do we have so many Joey fans? Like I would give the bloke my support and we've had worse managers but it is a bizarre cult following of the bloke.

There's a weird irony to the dooozy first MT fixure at the mem.
Lots of posters being criticised for the merest reference of JB... love him or loathe him his tenure is very relevant to the situation we find ourselves in.
Yet, actually- there's a bloke visiting who I won't "get over."And he didnt sign a single player currently wearing the quarters. DC is my footballing hero and whilst I wanna give Matt Taylor all the support I have- I'll be sharing the love with Darrell this Saturday. What an emotionally tricky first home match. But perhaps the perfect reminder to us all- that we all love this game. We have different connections to this wonderful club but each is special in its own right. The opposition gaffer has shown what we can do when we all pull together and how special that feels.
MT wasnt my first choice but lets get the mem the bouncing. Be positive, share the love and hopefully a reminder of a most beautiful past will inspire us all to respect our entire past (including recent) and fight together for a better, more united future.
Come on you blues. I'll see you in my dreams.

Not sure I've ever seen Northampton play that well before.

His spending on players was not great. Taylor looking good value, but what of Connolly, Macca, Loft, Rossitor, Clarke? What of Clarke getting a 2 year deal then shipped out. Best squad? How many set to leave at the end of season? How many of the squad would command a fee? No striker, JCH the only one on the planet available?

The JB myth lives on for many of his biggest fanboys. We played Garnerball ffs. Largely toothless, pointless possession based football with little to no cutting edge or threat. His signings were extremely hit and miss - they all conveniently forget the players you've listed (and that's only a handful of them). Then there's the court cases, the horrific outbursts, the disgraceful man management, the unbelievable lack of professionalism / shocking representation of the club, the pathetic "I give up" attitude that relegated us from L1. The list goes on.

I’ve definitely missed something here I doubt many mid table teams spent more on transfer fees, possibly Wycombe did but unlike us they sold a player for decent money. If you include the stand etc it'll be far more than £6m. So why do you think we are in a far better position? We might have a handful of better player but what's the betting MT has a clear out in the next couple of transfer windows?

I'll get my Crystal ball out and let you know how many will leave at the end of the season, how the hell do I know, yes I remember people during the summer saying announce promotion now when we were signing these players, obviously you didn't, have you ever thought about being a manager yourself, think you will be really good, it's very easy in hindsight

I think for me and a lot of gas fans he brought excitement back to watching rovers again.
The last year under DC , then GC , then garner then finally tisdale were all horrendous to watch. Suddenly under JB we saw an exciting attacking rovers again who won promotion in the most extraordinary way any of us will ever see in our lifetimes.
I liked the fact he told it how it was and wasn't scared to voice his opinion in a world where you can't say f"*k all for fear of being called out by the snowflake society we have become.
Was it all great? No.
Did he take things too far sometimes? Definitely.
Is he a bit of a see you next Tuesday? Yes he is.
But I loved the majority of his time being our manager and he made me dream the gas might one day be the best club in Bristol again.
That challenge is at Matt Taylor's feet now and I'm right behind him. Barton will fade into a distant memory but that glorious day in may 2022 will always be a huge part of our history now.

In a list of recent managers, I'd put JB around Trollope's level but even he had a good cup run something which JB never achieved, you sense he now joins Buckle and McGhee as manager most fans will be glad if they never see again at the Mem.
