Forgive my ignorance, but of all the obscure names i have seen, no-one has mentioned Nigel Clough. Without checking, my memory is that he has had a decent record at several clubs - or am I out of touch? Or do we just feel he would be unlikely to move? he's had lots of offers from big clubs but wants to stay in his local area. Thanks. Onto another false hope then......

Maybe it’ll be a proper curveball, Robbie Fowler was touted before. Steven Gerrard? Big name, point to prove, doesn’t need the money. (Probably an awful manager mind) speaks fluent Scouse! Just thinking , Steven Gerrards CV Rangers , Villa , the Gas ...not sure of that . Think he'll be back in the Championship , like Lampard.
Some grotty no hope team there , mabey the 82ers when they finally realise Pearson cant't get them into the play offs.
Robbie Fowler , relieved of his duties at some Saudi club I've never heard of , after a few months , no thanks!

Karl Robinson had Oxford challenging for promotion for 3 or 4 seasons iirc, before last seasons nosedive by them so wouldn’t mind him being given a fair crack at it.As for the ex $hithead merry go round managers, feck right off to the lot of em,all proven failures. For the sake of fairness, I don’t think you can call Cotterill a failure, proven or otherwise.

All this talk of interviews makes me think that j b sacking has been on the cards for a while after all he was only sacked yesterday it looked to me as though JB knew weeks ago that it was over. . That isn’t what AM said in his interview- a shock to all

That isn’t what AM said in his interview- a shock to all I 💯 think they had the feelers out after that Burton defeat and thought let’s see how we do at home. Barton got no reaction to the defeat, I can’t believe his fat weeble comments helped, decision made.

Boreham wood manager would be a decent one 👌 He's my top choice Luke Garrard's managerial record: P 410 W 150 D 130 L 130 Win % 36.59 Barton with Rovers: P 143 W 53 D 30 L 60 Win % 37.1 Different team, different levels, different time periods. Just thought it was an interesting comparison given how close the last number is...

Not too impressed with the names being mentioned so far, I think I rather let Mangan / Whelan have a go, both seem popular with the players & keep some sort of continuity at the club, rather than a new broom who will want to make a clean sweep & cause a lot.of uncertainty & upheaval. With those two in the building there is no rush to appoint a new manager and both should be under consideration IMHO. With Wheelo you have a man with nearly 700 club career appearances and 91 international caps and the experience of having played under the likes of Giovanni Trapattoni, Tony Pulis, Paul Sturrock, Mick McCarthy and Martin O'Neill.

The club that Fowler has just left has 7 trophys in the cabinet and has a stadium that holds 11k. They've had 26 managers in 10 years🤪 He'd be a good fit.

Wonder how far along Couttsy is with his coaching badges/licenses? I know he left for Scotland to be near his family but maybe a crack at managing in the EFL might appeal. He has the advantage of knowing all the staff and the “project” without the baggage that comes with Joey (or any of the ghostly failed managers waiting in the wings).

I’ve not seen any names yet to get me excited. Normally there would be a few good candidates knocking about at this stage of the season, perhaps they should have waited a little longer before pulling the trigger to see who else might become available?
