Not too impressed with the names being mentioned so far, I think I rather let Mangan / Whelan have a go, both seem popular with the players & keep some sort of continuity at the club, rather than a new broom who will want to make a clean sweep & cause a lot.of uncertainty & upheaval. With those two in the building there is no rush to appoint a new manager and both should be under consideration IMHO. With Wheelo you have a man with nearly 700 club career appearances and 91 international caps and the experience of having played under the likes of Giovanni Trapattoni, Tony Pulis, Paul Sturrock, Mick McCarthy and Martin O'Neill. I agree, you never know how they are going to do, until they get given a chance. Although Joey used to bang on that he was a better manager than others, as he played in the Premier league. That's not always the case though. Look at Steven Schumacher, he stepped up, he was a number two. He was only 37 at the time and had only ever played in the lower leagues and non league. Some of their fans were disappointed when he was given the chance, they aren't now! At least someone within the club, will know the squad all ready. A lot will depend on who else wants the job and how we do over the next few weeks!

They are 16th this season and are closer to the bottom than the play offs. I know they had a good cup run in the past, but is he that good?? It's probably still around par for the budget they have in that league. He's had them punching above their weight for years and ran Notts County ridiculously close in the playoff semi last year. There's always going to be a limit to how long you can do that for. I thought he came across brilliantly when we played them last season with his research and prep etc. Just think he's a nice balance between someone that isn't a washed up journey man like Cotterill, nor a Football Manager type need like Garner.

Boreham wood manager would be a decent one 👌 He's my top choice Ehh? Swap a manager 5 points above the drop zone in league one for a manager 5 points above the drop zone in the Conference. No thanks.

His win ratio with Boreham Wood is 0.5% worse than Barton's win ratio with Rovers. Sounds like a nice bloke but not really ticking that many boxes stats-wise...

As per the owners interview on BBC Radio Bristol. Any guesses?

Is this something that came from the BBCRB interview? Yes, although I don't think he gave loads away. He said they could be young, but also if they have experienced promotion from League 1 or higher, it would be good as well. He said they have already talked to some and that they have had people approach us. But that we wouldn't be afraid to approach people that we might want, if they don't contact us.

Did this need a new thread?

Not afraid to approach someone who hadn't contacted us and already in talks sounds like the club have a clear idea of who they want rather waiting to see who is interested.

After hearing the interview I know with him not being British it might be taken out of context but the bit where he says about the person getting teams out of League 1 and that someone from the championship onwards could be a sign that the guy they want has got promotion from this leage which could well mean that you are correct but you probably also include Nathan Jones in that equation too.

No chance we get him Thing is some people might be happy to just sit around and do that but I would imagine that he will want to get back into work rather than just pick up his payoff. He doesn't seem the type too. Yes the payoff might be good but for me if your a manager nothing beats being on the training ground and on the touchline.
