Holloway with the correct person alongside him could do a great job 👏 An established manager wouldn’t want him sniffing around If the club decide to go inexperience (whelan/mangan/Ryan mason etc) then perhaps. Anyway, it’s all immaterial. Graham Potter has decided he’s had enough sitting around watching Loose Women and is on his way down to sign a 5 year contract UTG

I feel like Holloway is an itch that we may just need to scratch just to put it to bed so he is not linked every time going forward. Once it’s over everyone can put it behind them and move on. He had a mare at Grimsby and this appointment needs to be right, otherwise the bring back Barton gang will be frothing at the mouth.

Holloway has been circling us for ages, at games, around the place, interviews in the paper he wants back in, 💯 wants the job.
It would give us a bounce in terms of attendance and feel good factor. I don’t believe he is past it, you just get a progressive coach next to you, no different to Moyes at West Ham winning the European trophy.
This said, he’s not for me, too emotional being in charge of “his” club, again too much media intrusion. If love a Kieran McKenna sort, like Manning at Oxford, totally off the radar going about his job quietly and doing well.
I can see why Holloway gets the ticket.

He’d be a good choice if we were in a relegation battle and needed a firefighting type manager. But I doubt he’ll be able to play the right football with the squad we have currently.

Dogg he’s not for me mate, let’s make this clear, I’m with you.
But I don’t agree he couldn’t manage this squad to current style of play. He was a passing side manager at Blackpool, they played some incredible stuff!
At QPR their fans hated his direct approach.
At Palace I am told by a fan there that he went for a mix of David Moyes stuff a bit like DC, passing but direct when needed and I like this brand at our level.
He’s still not for me.

The best football I've seen rovers play was under Holloway. 'it's just like watching Brazil ' Having said that he seems a spent managerial force these days.

I would like it if he was involved with the club in some capacity, but not management.

Hope the new owners who we are told read this forum don’t see this thread otherwise we will get what we deserve if we appoint a dinosaur like Holloway. Long past it as his record proves and if he was to come back why on earth would he need someone alongside him if he is deemed good enough to be our manager. Somebody like Monk ticks the boxes having played and managed at the top level and if we want to go for an old timer, there’s only one and he lives in Cornwall.

Dave, I love your passion at 73 years of age and your opinion is so relevant today as my Dad’s who you have met at 77. I’m not a fan of ageism and we have to be careful on this, is Holloway really past it at 60?
Roy Hodgson is 75, from 2002 to 2005 he was managing Saudi Arabi and Viking in Scandinavia and 55 when he left them, this is after some incredible jobs prior. Then in 2007 Fulham plucked him out of the middle of no where have just left the Finland national side job. I imagine back then many Fulham fans said the same, he went onto to well with them, got the Liverpool job, England job and now at 75 today doing a good job at Palace.
Holloway isn’t a Premiership manager anymore of that level, but I see no reason he can’t manage at Div1 level with his experience, John Coleman, Cotterill, Steve Evans one year older than Ollie etc.
For me he’s a no still, too aligned to us, the Tote End lot love him, older fans, you only have to look at the supporters club nights with him. Our younger fans know nothing of him re You Tube and stories told, I really think if it goes wrong, or a bad run of results, you have a really Barton MRGA support against outers.
New man for me, nothing to do with Rovers past

If Holloway didn't have his past Rovers connections then he would not be linked with the job every time. In the same way that he isn't listed as a favourite for every other job at this level.
I love the guy and what he did for our club but he is past it as a manager with old fashioned tactics and I think he would be a disaster of an appointment.
Eustace would be incredible but unfortunately likely to be out of our reach so Leam Richardson with Garry Monk second choice for me.

My thoughts, get Ollie in until the end of the season and see what happens, he's been to the training ground, he knows the players already having met them, he's watched us a few times he knows how good they are, he passionate and he loves us, if it don't work out then get someone else in in the summer

Imagine the bandwagon if Ollie got the job and won his first five games... Groundbreaking!
Realistically it could only ever end badly - but the same could be said of any manager as nothing ever lasts forever in management. You've just got to hope the bit in between the start and the finish is worth the pain.

Don’t believe that the club would hire him especially given their requirements list at the weekend. Would eat my hat if they went with him.
That said he’s at 5/1 which is probably the shortest he’s been for a while on a rovers managerial vacancy so there may be some truth in it.
