Holloway would merely appease the over 50’s who still live in 89/90 & rarely been for 20 years or more. Namely, most blokes on my shift!
We can do way better.

Don’t believe that the club would hire him especially given their requirements list at the weekend. Would eat my hat if they went with him. That said he’s at 5/1 which is probably the shortest he’s been for a while on a rovers managerial vacancy so there may be some truth in it. I agree. And the price at 5/1 would only be people putting their money on him. Surprised Bet Victor is the only betting company that are giving us a price.

Holloway has been circling us for ages, at games, around the place, interviews in the paper he wants back in, 💯 wants the job. It would give us a bounce in terms of attendance and feel good factor. I don’t believe he is past it, you just get a progressive coach next to you, no different to Moyes at West Ham winning the European trophy. This said, he’s not for me, too emotional being in charge of “his” club, again too much media intrusion. If love a Kieran McKenna sort, like Manning at Oxford, totally off the radar going about his job quietly and doing well. I can see why Holloway gets the ticket. The last off the radar manager we appointed was Ben Garner! Yes it was but that shouldn’t stop us from doing it again. If that were the case I guess few younger managers would be appointed. I hope the owners are taking advice, do a proper process over appointing and then decide on the best man. Manning has been a great appointment for Oxford and I’m sure there are others with good coaching credentials, good man-management skills etc. out there. Most of them will be known to the football world but not as well known to fans. But I also hope they give Mangan a chance perhaps 3/4 games ro prove himself and give themselves time to appoint if it’s needed. UTG!

The best football I've seen rovers play was under Holloway. 'it's just like watching Brazil ' Having said that he seems a spent managerial force these days. Brazil? Are you nuts man! Don't you remember the chant from that time. We really did play some quality football.

In reality we need to go with a sensible decision. Holloway has a pretty bad record at the last three or four clubs he's been at. I don't see us appointing him

The 41-year-old Thomas Wörle is another interesting overseas manager. Following a successful 9 year spell as the Bayern Munich Women's Team manager he started managing SSV Ulm 1846 on 1 July 2021. Wörle guided Ulm to a second place finish in the 4th tier 21/22 Regionalliga Südwest season. In the 22/23 season Ulm won the Regionalliga Südwest and promotion to the 23/24 3. Liga, where they currently sit in 3rd place. Wörle has managed 95 games for SSV Ulm, winning 60, drawing 19, losing 16, with 189 goals scored, 88 conceded, a +101 goal difference, 2.09 PPM and 63.16% win percentage. If we were to expand our search then I would expect a few other names to crop up: 36-year-old Willem Weijs is highly-rated and started his coaching career at a young age as a youth coach at PSV Eindhoven. This was followed by periods in the youth academy at Ajax and NAC Breda. At Breda Weijs became assistant coach and was at the helm for five matches as caretaker manager. In 2020, Weijs switched to Willem II to become coach of the 2nd team and assistant coach for the main squad. A year later, Weijs left for Vincent Kompany's RSC Anderlecht for a job as an assistant coach. Last season Weijs was employed the City Football Group at Lommel in Belgium, where he also held the position of assistant coach. This summer he joined FC Eindhoven as manager in the Dutch 2nd tier Keuken Kampioen Divisie where they are 6th after 12 games. 52-year-old Dick Schreuder is a good manager. Previously assistant at Philadelphia Union, Vitesse Arnhem and 1899 Hoffenheim, he has managed VV Katwijk where he had a win percentage of 61.06% from 113 games and a +105 goal difference and then later managed PEC Zwolle where he had a win percentage of 54.69%, a +47 goal difference and named 22/23 Keuken Kampioen Divisie Manager of the Year. Currently manager of Spanish 3rd tier club Castellón, where he has a win percentage of 80% having won 8 out of his first 10 games with a +16 goal difference. 34-year-old Fran Justo is highly-rated in Spain. Played for Ponte Ourense CF as a youth and he later made his senior debut with the club, but retired in 2013 (aged just 23) to pursue a coaching career where at the time he was already in charge of the Ponte Ourense youth setup. He later managed SD Nogueira where he won a promotion and left with a win percentage of 48.61% and a +26 goal difference from 72 games. His next club was Ourense where he achieved a promotion in his first season, with a total win percentage of 52.45% and a +103 goal difference from 143 games. He then managed Arenteiro where he also achieved a promotion in his first year, with a total win percentage of 51.81% from 83 games and a +46 goal difference. This summer Unai Emery bought a controlling stake in Real Union (the club his father and grandfather used to play for in Spain) and appointed Fran Justo as manager. “Within our coach selection process, we have been very demanding when developing the profile, and as soon as we have had it very clear and defined, we have gone to the market for the person who best adapts to what the team needs", said the president of the Real Unión Board of Directors, Igor Emery. This season Justo has a win percentage of 63.64% at Real Unión after winning his 7 out of first 11 games with a +4 goal difference. Edit: 46-year-old Habib Bèye is doing a good job at Red Star FC in France with a win percentage of 51.28% from 78 games and a +49 goal difference. The former Olympique Marseille, RC Strasbourg, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Doncaster Rovers player and Senegal international will have learnt a thing or two during his career from working with the likes of Gérard Houllier, Guy Stéphan, Claude Le Roy, Martin O'Neill, Sam Allardyce and Kevin Keegan.

The trouble with foreign coaches is they have no experience of league 1. This seems to be one of the key criteria of the owners. So I can't see it happening.

Hope the new owners who we are told read this forum don’t see this thread otherwise we will get what we deserve if we appoint a dinosaur like Holloway. Long past it as his record proves and if he was to come back why on earth would he need someone alongside him if he is deemed good enough to be our manager. Somebody like Monk ticks the boxes having played and managed at the top level and if we want to go for an old timer, there’s only one and he lives in Cornwall.Rick Stein? He lives in and owns Cornwall!

If Holloway is being considered.... just wow.
Love the bloke, Gas legend. But way past his best now. Totally failed at Grimsby last time out and would surely be a disaster of epic proportions if he did come back
