Robinson NO
Bombed out Taylor in the same vein as Barton with Ched Evans, loved the banter and couldn’t take it himself anymore. Had an affair (he was married) with the captain of Oxford United ladies side, that was unprofessional. Matty and Stevens GK got a picture or something of his wife and stuck the ladies captain face on it and he went MENTAL. Stevens immediately sent to Port Vale, Matty refused to go but pushed out in the end.
He’s not for us, he’s applied for the job about 3 times here, the club knows his baggage, I could say more as well. We don’t want a drinking culture at our club!

Another must for me is we have a manager who moves to the City as well.
This commuting isn’t good, it simply comes down to commitment. DC in Salisbury to Bristol is an achievable daily commute but this MgGhee in Brighton and the Scouse mafia coming down in the Veto’s in my opinion should stop based on commitment.
If we are handing out 3 year deals with security and you are confident you can do the job, you move to the area.
McGhee lived in Brighton, it didn’t work. I love how David Moyes has a flat in London, he goes home sometimes for a few days up to Cheshire but midweek he’s at the academy in the evening and watches a lot of the youth sides games.
We need someone coming in who is 💯 invested in the club.
Pearson moved to North Somerset, just another example, he was committed to them and you can see the players and fans knew this at Ashton Gate.

Did Barton not have a flat in Bristol? Surely he wasn't doing a 5 hour round trip on a daily basis?

Better to suggest JB wasn’t committed to BRFC and commuted from the north!

Commitment.
We don’t want 8 Mancs, Scousers, Geordie’s all staying in a flat and going home at 6pm every Saturday and then making training in the afternoon on a Monday or Tuesday to suit them.
You want workers who have a happy home life as well, who are not missing their families, having partners tell them it’s hard on their own. Now if the person doesn’t want to move their family then I have ultimate respect for them, but maybe they are not for us.
And yes I want the manager to travel with the team as well on match day, they are all in it together.
Alex Ferguson moved to Manchester, Wenger lived by Arsenal training ground, Klopp and Benitez loved Liverpool. Commitment, being invested in the whole project, how many of us get 3 years security up front in a job?
Is it wrong to say to potential employee, so ok, I’m putting £200k on the line to pay you, a 3 year contract, I want some commitment back, I expect you to live 1 hour from the club?

JB seemed surprisingly "invested" in Rovers given his background, the rumours where that BG had moved to the Bristol area just before he was sacked, whereas GC was clearly still based in Yorkshire.
As long as the manager commits to attending training etc I can't see what difference he makes where he lives. If he's got school age kids then you can't expect him to move them around every couple of years.

We trained afternoons after the weekend to help them come back down, I know the man who sold them the Veto’s.
Also, how do you get a committed player when you say to him I don’t want you away from your family unsettled and spending hours in the car which isn’t good for you when you are doing it yourself?
Chris Martin invested in the City of Bristol, Steve Elliott still does today, you want and expect the player to do this, you need to set the example.
I don’t want players like Mark Hughes just coming down for a pay packet, I want hungry ones like Matty Taylor, Sincs, Leads, all invested in the project and living locally.

If he can’t move re kids, I said 💯 respect but he’s not for us then, commit goes both ways, we are handing out 3 year deals!

Clubs may hand out 3 year contracts but a substantial amount are sacked well before that, you cannot reasonably expect a candidate to commit to moving his family away from their lives and friends etc. That just doesn’t sit right.

You can for the right candidate. You make it a stipulation, all of a sudden you see who is serious about the job! Imagine the bloke who shows the passion and desire to do this, you think, I want to partner with this guy!

It’s just my opinion on getting some commitment, that’s my preference, we all have our views and opinions. Robinson blew up big time, he lost the changing big time, the players revolted over Stevens and Taylor treatment, the ladies captain went as well, proper mess. Robinson was sacked 26th Feb Lauren Haynes captain left 2 weeks later, in the season as well x.com/laurenhaynes11/status/1635649784370327555?s=46&t=bhN6HOKs1kzYSj3KfeKg9QBig news up here and it’s why Taylor was bombed.

Barton himself said the summer after we got relegated that he wanted any player he signed to move to the city of Bristol and commit themselves to the city completely. Clearly he moved away from that which I think is a shame

To be fair Roady I think you either die the hero or stay long enough to become the villain at most football clubs. You can’t argue with Robinsons record at this level overall, not saying I’d have him but from the list available he’s one of the better candidates

Correct Dust but some managers go stale and run out of ideas, some managers get themselves the sack by losing the dressing room or doing something stupid.
His affair at Oxford United split the whole camp.
I remember him up in our Directors box after they collapsed in the cup whilst winning 3-1 and we won 4-3. He never went back on the team bus, stayed up there drinking beers with Barton, he’s not for me. The picture of him in our box went onto the Oxford forum, should have been on that bus and those players knowing it was unacceptable

Mangan with Bonds as his assistant gets my vote. Doesn’t make sense to me, to bring in a new guy with different values/tactics/players etc when HAS pumped a boat load of money into the playing squad this summer. AM’s philosophy (small sample size admittedly) seems similar to Barton which I don’t mind, just with an end product/shot at goal.
JB didn’t seem particularly interested in interviews and on the sidelines for the past few weeks and it’s been AM and the rest of the coaching team barking out instructions during the games.
Think the players probably relate and are more motivated with the current staff then they were with JB and his outbursts/critism/vanity.

I can see JB ending up at QPR now that Ainsworth has gone
