Heads up, I'm watered. Steve Elliott as manager, my favourite Gas player. He's furkin brilliant. Olly as DOF to support him xx I like it. Sometimes having a skin full can open the mind to some absolutely fantastical ideas…..other times you may find yourself in waking up in the local police station with a itchy blanket full of other peoples DNA samples, a half eaten frozen lasagne and a soggy cardboard spoon.

I can see JB ending up at QPR now that Ainsworth has gone Current favourite for the Bradford job That’s his agent again, he was favourite for a lot of northern jobs while he was with us. He won’t get another job for a long time. He said as well if he was with us in 2 years in Div1 he was retiring and off to play golf. He’d need back to back promotions at Bradford to keep up with his 2 year Championship dream. All this said, he will end up at someone like Fylde at some point.

Mangan with Bonds as his assistant gets my vote. Doesn’t make sense to me, to bring in a new guy with different values/tactics/players etc when HAS pumped a boat load of money into the playing squad this summer. AM’s philosophy (small sample size admittedly) seems similar to Barton which I don’t mind, just with an end product/shot at goal. JB didn’t seem particularly interested in interviews and on the sidelines for the past few weeks and it’s been AM and the rest of the coaching team barking out instructions during the games. Think the players probably relate and are more motivated with the current staff then they were with JB and his outbursts/critism/vanity. Agree with this. There doesn’t appear to be any standout candidates and you could end up with a new manager with a completely different style wanting another overhaul of the squad. I’ve said on here many times the biggest mistake the current board made with their managerial appointments was not keeping Maher in charge after GC left, at least for the remainder of that season.

I’ve said on here many times the biggest mistake the current board made with their managerial appointments was not keeping Maher in charge after GC left, at least for the remainder of that season. My reading of that situation was that GC was aware he was a caretaker and that he was only staying in the job by winning. I think Garner was waiting in the wings and the club wanted the new era. When an offer came in for a longer contract and a club who wanted him, the smokescreen of location was the reason given…I think he said “best thing for family, have to think of them” and that is somewhat code for “longer contract/more money”. Even though it was league 2, it’s like when Dad’s give up being self employed or working in gig jobs to get a corporate droid role for the secure income for the family. The reason GC left was because of Garner so Maher was never an option. GC didn’t leave, he was low key pushed.

One of our best managers was David Williams and he was a player-manager. I was impressed with a recent interview with Chris Martin talking about a match. He seems a character with leadership qualities that would be a good manager. I had a look to see what managers he has worked with and there are probably more besides; such an eclectic mix and good contacts:
Paul Lambert. Peter Grant. Glenn Roeder. Chris Houghton. Paulo di Canio. Steve McLaren Nigel Clough. Gordon Strachan. Nigel Adkins. Dougie Freedman. Frank Lampard. Nigel Pearson. Gary Rowett. Gareth Ainsworth. Joey Barton.

Agree with you on Bradford, could easily be back in the Championship in a 2/3 seasons but that would be proper Banned word stuff by Barton going back into Div2 after all what he said about the standard, turning off games and back to CL because it was so bad and then saying Div1 was terrible as well? ?

He's got to pay the mortgage (or golf club fees?) somehow, most likely Bradford would match his Rovers salary/package and the fans are so desperate to get out of L2 may overlook JB's dodgy past. Anyway back to Rovers new manager surely there's somebody more attractive than an out of work manager?

If we are prepared to pay a fee I quite like what the Cambridge manager Mark Bonner has done on a very limited budget. 38.86 win %. Fits the young category at 37 but not the Championship experience. Also like how he speaks in interviews. Shame he signed a long term deal recently

He doesn't do it for the money, I'm sure he boasted he was down to his last £20m a while back when having a pop at someone on X
