Now he’s gone what would we grade his time here
I’ll try to put my dislike for him to one side and be rational.
First half of a season absolutely awful but granted he did inherit a poor squad although he somehow made them worse.
Second season ended with promotion that was expected but some of the football towards the end was really good to watch, obviously ending with the 7-0 which at one point seemed unthinkable!
Third season started well but faded really badly into poor form despite having some players who are playing in the championship and prem this year.
This season a really disappointing start and no signs it was going to get better.
I think he’s been backed significantly by the board and not delivered anything out of the ordinary, good memories of league 2 but overall I’m going for a D+/C-

Average showing, below par in L1 but the most epic promotion and 6 month run imaginable with many games Home & on the road I’ll never forget.

Solid C+. We were a total and utter car crash before he arrived, he failed miserably to save us, but I genuinely doubted we could get back at the first attempt and he proved me wrong, in style in the end! We stayed up comfortably on our return and let's be honest we might not be better off position-wise, but the playing side looks unrecognisably improved from before he was here.
I marked him down for our final league position under him and on his insane outbursts from time to time and the numerous controversies.

Ok B- you’re probably right my point was more that he’s been ok for us but only about average compared to others and there have been some terrible ones. |

We haven't really ever had any success in league 1 in recent times.
Not much worse than DC in my opinion.
League is much tougher now than when DC was in charge also.
JB a C, DC a B- just because he lasted a little while longer.
GC is our most successful manager in recent time so would get a B, above DC.

Barton would be a C.
Rofe would be up there with a B , 13th in the second tier 91'-'92

B- for me, talked the talk but couldn’t quite get them to walk the walk, especially this season given the quality he brought in. Suspect he’ll be as frustrated as much as disappointed.
