So why the attendance boost yesterday?
Not great weather, they brought ok away support, not a real rivalry needle match like a West Country derby?
Also not the best weather?
I wasn’t a Barton fan, I never once sang his name but nothing stops me watching the Gas, was yesterday really 1,000 fans returning?
Under Cogs this would have been 6,200.
I don’t care what anymore says, Barton did make us known again, the noise he made. Could we actually be in a better place now because of actions, add in returning fans, add in consistent winning football, add in the new stand open, could us sitting 6th yesterday really have been a 10,*** gate?

We’ve not had a home game on a Saturday in about a month. Suspect a bit of pent up demand, curiosity over the change in management and support for Mangan adds to the returning stay aways.

There definitely were a few.
I would say about 15 people tried to pay for a programme or 50/50 from me with cash and not all of them were away fans.

I am certainly one of the fans that vowed never to return whilst Barton in charge and so came back to watch yesterday

Incredible, I thought it was like a handful, I don’t know 50 staying away?!
I rattle on about business on here, another example why you need to listen to your customers, do surveys, Tesco and Starbucks (incredible re this coffee chain) both turned their business around.
I praise Barton, he made us relevant again, for a lot of wrong reasons but people knew who Bristol Roves were again mainly because they would say, Joey Barton manages them!
Could we say 200, 500 fans returned yesterday?

Could we say 200, 500 fans returned yesterday? Not sure about that many, but if you look at the number of threads on here recently there is a lot of interest in the club at the moment. With the news about the new redevelopment and a hard fought win, the club should try and at least promote the kid a quid and the magic of the FA cup as much as they can.

I have average attendance before yesterday as 7703. Yesterday's attendance was 8518. A difference of 815. Let's say that the mid point of your range stayed away due to JB being sacked. That means 1165 fans came back yesterday due to JB sacking. That equates to 15% of fans stayed away due to JB. Was a good attendance yesterday in really bad weather.

I came back yesterday. I don't know anyone else personally who had stayed away, but from conversations around me on the East Terrace there were others who were had returned.
I'd forgotten how much I enjoy a hot pasty in the rain, and a home win.

This is all great feedback for the business, the club.
Welcome back returning Gasheads BTW, we all have different morals and opinions.

We had one temp stand for away fans against Lincoln onwards. The temp stand for home fans came into play for Wigan? Just from a numbers perspective, removing the first two games from the average will mean even more fans stayed away. I think Wigan is an interesting comparison. Wigan were in the Premier league for 8 seasons. So there will be people in their early 20's who grew up with Wigan as a premiership team. So you would think an attractive fixture. We had 8161 attend that game and I'm pretty sure we had both temp stands in use for that game. Yesterday was 8518, against what could be argued as a less attractive fixture.

I had 100 mates who said they'd never watch Rovers under JB who went yesterday.
PS Never believe anything you read on social media.

I couldn't go, but I know of a couple of people who are likely to return regularly without Barton as manager. He certainly polarised parts of the fan base but it was interesting to see a higher attendance. It could have been returning fans, more away fans? or just the lack of home games recently. I guess the pro-Barton fans didn't protest by staying away in huge numbers either. Ultimately the pro- and anti- Barton fans support the club first and go to games, choosing how to voice their opposition to the clubs higher authorities through other means

Whatever the reason, the stats show our biggest home crowd of the season so far. It directly followed our lowest home crowd so far and it cannot be attributed to fair weather fans as the weather was appalling.
I reckon many more stayed away due to Barton than folk on here realised.

Good rousing reception for the team & Mangan when they entered the field yesterday, thought some of our noisier fans may have started the, We got super Joey Barton song but thankfully that didn’t materialise & the crowd were United in support for the team. Glad the returning fans & I noticed a few faces I haven’t seen for along time there yesterday, saw a home victory, not the best performance but couldn’t fault the effort by the lads in what was awful weather conditions.Utg.

I reckon many more stayed away due to Barton than folk on here realised. Perhaps they fudged the numbers to consolidate their decision. There were gaps all over the crowd yesterday so there was plenty of space. It was payday, people were intrigued, Barton factor probably raised a few eyebrows and generated interest though.
