How long in Belly at FGR for, can we get him back? Based on Cox over the last few I’d definitely prefer Belly in there. Also, my concern when he went down injured shows I’m not feeling confident if Matty Hall had to come on to replace him! If there’s no rapid improvement then we need someone else in January, or Belly back in my opinion!!

First away point in 2 months and we played with the confidence of a side who had lost the last 3 away games by a score of 8-2

Our View of Last Night
Cox 5 - Worst distribution game since he has been with us. Put us under real un-nessacary pressure at times.
Grant 4 - Being played in too many different positions by both JB & AM. Not sure he knows what he's doing at RB! Got done far too much! Wilson 5- Not match fit & made too many mistakes. Protected by Taylor which saved his blushes. Taylor 8.5 - Won everything in the air thankfully covered Wilson & Grant. Did more work than he should have! Friend. 5 - Some positive's but I would like to judge him at CB, not LB. Concerning lack of pace & the turning circle of HMS Ark Roayal
Findley 3 - So inconsistent game to game. Team has moved beyond him. A move to League Two must be on the cards in January Woods 7.5 - Excellent game (except one big mistake that lead to the goal) - Out of position time and again but this is because he was covering Finley & forced to make too many covering tackles from Finley's errors Thomas 7 - Looks soooo frustrated! Tried to get us going but gave up in the second half. Clever back heal for Brown. Martin 6 - Missing apart from the run through & shot for the goal. Looked slow on occasions but no question he is a proper goal scorer! No real support. Collins 5 - Just looks so uncomfortable on the wing sometimes Brown 2.5 - Worst game so far in a Rovers shirt.
Subs …
Bogarde 6 - Played almost as a sweeper at time rather than a midfielder. Played behind Finley not alongside him. Marquis 6 - Did Okay but needed to be on the pitch sooner. Vale 7 - Changed the game and excellent assist. Needed to be on from the start. Crama 5 - Did ok when on - better than Wilson. Gibbons 5 - Gave away a Pen fortunately not given. Another Struggling to look like a League 1 player
Referee 7 - Really good game until the Marquis Pen & red card that he should have given for stopping a goal scoring opportunity. Compounded the error by evening it up (in our favour) when Gibbons gave away a foul which should have been a Pen. Stadium 7 - First visit & its facilities are appalling for a new-ish stadium. lack of bars, food outlets inside in the dry. Access to the stadium & parking difficult! View inside absolutely perfect. Gasheads 6 - Good following but noise & away "atmosphere" was nullified by the home drum. A good example of how to use a drum & the effect it can have!

Interesting how we all view the game differently. Personally thought Brown had one of his best games for us, was the only creative player out there and was having a good spell until he got subbed off, and I thought Woods was absolutely atrocious - every pass backwards or sideways, and at too slow a tempo (hence he lost the ball and we conceded). Agree with pretty much everything else, Finley has been so off the pace for a good 18 months, it's no shock he wants Mangan to get the job with his contract up in the summer!

Away end was nullified by a lack of what was going on in front of us. I’m glad we’re one of very few clubs that don’t tolerate a drum on our travels.

Gasheads 6 - Good following but noise & away "atmosphere" was nullified by the home drum. A good example of how to use a drum & the effect it can have! Interesting scores. I'd find it difficult to give any player a score over 3 for the first half performance. Perhaps Taylor for his aerial dominance gets a 4. For a professional outfit to serve that first 45 minutes up is disgusting. No effort, no will, no communication, no energy, no interest, barely any movement off the ball, basic sloppy errors across the park, and nobody taking ownership. Our fans are far too forgiving because at many other clubs I've been to they'd be spitting blood at that. Second half couldn't possibly get worse and thankfully the players upped the game to about 75% effort. Vale was a breath of fresh air. Finley battled but was out-matched. Marquis did his usual harrying and Cox only spooned the ball to their player once rather than 3 times like the first half. Collins is probably our best player if he can find his lost appetite, he needs counselling and perhaps he'll go on to have a great career, otherwise he'll be forgotten. No player gets above a 5.5 for me. Shocking and unacceptable performance from paid professionals, against a poor reading who out fought and outplayed us for long periods.

Jevani Brown is wasted up front , should be in the hole behind the front two for his creativity. Findley just isn’t a top half midfielder . Grant not a full back so please stop playing him there. Martin excellent finisher but offers very little else apart from the odd flick on.

A point but we should have been good enough to beat the bottom of the league team. Yet again we simply weren’t good enough. I fear with Joeys back room team we’re just getting the same old same. We have some good players but we need a new Manager and that man is not in the building. I agree that we didn’t play well, but Readings home form isn’t bad, they’ve won the same amount of home games as we have. The reason they are bottom of the league is that they’ve lost all of their away games. UTG

Suprised people are saying the away end was quiet, on ifollow it sounded like one of our loudest away crowds this season, perhaps just the microphone placement

Think some are being a little harsh on the players. I might not agree with some of the positions they were asked to play in but thought they all out a shift in. Reading have a decent team, they didn't make it easy for us. Think Mangan got the tactics wrong, and it's still way too easy to score against us but any point on the road is a decent point.

Martin excellent finisher but offers very little else apart from the odd flick on. Thought the team showed how much changes with a couple of injuries. Like you said, the difference between having Grant at rb and Hunt is huge. Having a Finley/Woods 2 in midfield is the stuff of nightmares 😂 and shows how important an Evans or even McCormick would be in there to help drive forward. Jevani seems a bit lost in the team atm, team felt much more balanced when he went off for Vale and allowed Collins to play more centrally.

I dont think yesterday was as bad as some are making out. It was disjointed and a lack of a real plan after the tennis ball stoppage, but it was ok. Reading are bottom due to points deduction, their home form isnt awful. They have decent players.
We have good players, but some just dont click. Collins and Brown should be an either or for me. They are never on the same book nevermind the same page. Saturday we should benefit from Evans and hopefully Hunt returning. A good performance and a win and we'll start to look up again. I do think the owners will be set on a new appointment now though. January will be key. Separate thread incoming!

Cox getting us into all sorts of trouble playing passes to midfielders surrounded but he’s obviously under instruction to play that way…..retaining possession.

Cox definitely needs to be rested, yesterday he made more mistakes than ever. BUT I can see why they are sticking with this, at least 5 or 6 times he set us off on great pacy counter attacks. Better final balls and we would have been singing his praises.
