No goals in 3 games, nothing much to cheer and no game for almost 2 weeks. Now would be a good time to show us the proposed designs for the new East Stand. Something other than poor results to talk about ... No goals in 7 games, nothing much to cheer for more than 5 weeks. Now would be a good time to show us the proposed designs for the new East Stand. Now would be a good time to throw a dead cat on the table. We were on 8 points from the previous 10 games when Wally and Tommy Gulag announced our move to the Fruit Market a year ago this week!

I got hooked by this video, thinking surely they wouldn't release a video like this without everything being signed off, would they.....

I got hooked by this video, thinking surely they wouldn't release a video like this without everything being signed off, would they..... There were literally no agreements in place when this was released. No agreement on the size of the stadium, the capacity of the stadium, the area of the site it would take up, the cost of it all and how it will be funded, plus how the revenue share would work. Bit of a p!ss take if you ask me.

Something other than poor results to talk about ... Imagine the current South stand chopped in half and stick half each side of the current East Stand, and you have your redevelopment. For the Thatchers I’d be surprised if it was anything more than another south stand build behind the existing terrace as a “second tier”.

Especially as away support is limited to 1300 and STs are now on sale in the south stand . Unless the club undertakes major works by sectioning off gates 2 and 3 which seems not to be a priority. Also it must of cost the club a few million on the south stand project from start to finish which could of gone into the planning budget. Currently the capacity is around 12000 meaning we got to sell 10000 home tickets every game to justify the current capacity. We haven't averaged 11000 plus for over 40 years. At present I can't see any justification to be involved in large scale projects until we sort out the playing side of things !. Our average gate is 8200 which us 4000 short of capacity .

Also if we miraculously got promoted the club could put temporary seating in an area of say 500 - 1000 and increase capacity to 13000 limiting away support to 1300. We need a good playing budget!.

Rotherham United averaged 10,000+ for five out of the 52 years (9.6%) between 1960 and 2012 when they built the New York Stadium. They've had five (45.45%) in the 11 years since. They've spent 12 years (23.08%) in the fourth tier in the period from 1960 to 2012 compared to one* (9.09%) since. *The first season at the New York Stadium.

I understand what you're saying, but the reality at other clubs who have built new stands/a new stadium with extra matchday facilities more often than not get bigger crowds after - no matter what's actually going on with the playing side. There are some exceptions, but even now we can see that people wanted to move from the terraces to seats in the South Stand - arguably a worse view but a more comfortable 90 minute experience. We know the wider fanbase is there, we see them when we get days out at Wembley...but how do you get them to 20+ home matches every season? Better facilities....if every other club decided not to build new stands/stadiums because the old ones were not full then all their stadiums would still look like ours....
