Recall when the team came out for the second half at Telford ,he came and over with Marcus and spoke to the large away contingent. He dealt with one particular foul mouthed fan with great professional dignity and spoke to him with humour.Impressed with DC and so glad we gave him the opportunity to manage us and get us back where we belonged

The side that finished 10th in league one under DC are better than this side, that’s just my opinion. Snake in his league one form is to quick upstairs and downstairs for Wilson. Imo. I was going off of “Higgs budget”, it obviously became Wael’s budget early 2016. But yeh the article certainly hits hard, another big reception for DC incoming next month no question about it. Well the majority were signed on Higgs budget, the team rush finished 10th, who was signed for Div1 who made a real affect? The star men, Taylor, Harrison, Locks, Bodin, transfer fee sell ons, all under Higgs. Lines came in on Higgs watch, Leads did, didn’t James Clarke sign under Higgs? And even his Hani/Wael budget was light years off todays.

One day I'll be really old. 35 for reference. If we ever have a manager that connects me to this beautiful game as much as DC- I'll be surprised. I'd turned casual on football. DC Rovers got me playing again. I'm no footballer. But that guys gas made me fall in love with rovers again. And the second time, I was an adult choosing for myself. My decision. He's my favourite manager/ or player I've ever experienced. I was very down after we got relegated from the league but that interview he did with 20man inspired me. A truly great man who deserves any success he gets.

No one should ever have to say goodbye to their children. I can't begin to imagine having to deal with the death of one of my children. I think it would break me, something I would never come to terms with.
So very sad for DC. I only hope he can find ways of coping. The world would be a whole better place if there were more people like DC. The best manager we've had in my opinion. The guy is a true legend and I send him all the heartfelt sympathies in dealing with what he has been through and no doubt still going through.

Powerful emotional interview. I've never cared much for Cheltenham and would have been happy to see them go down. I want them to stay up now for DC.
I wonder who the top league one club he just missed out on joining before Cheltenham was?

What an astonishing human being. Like others have said, Darrell has such strength, humility, dignity, humour and all round decency.
He really is an outstanding role model and a quite wonderful man. 💙

Very hard read and my admiration for DC increased when reading about his childhood and by his life story.
On the argument ok which squad is better, my view is that the current squad is probably better in terms of quality when looking at player v player, however DC’s man-management made a bunch of non league players, journeyman etc into possibly the best team we have seen for nearly 2 decades.
In the end it is all about opinions and everyone will have their own views, quite rightly so.

We don’t even have a word for people who’ve lost their children, like we do for an orphan, or a widow.
I think it’s the hardest thing a human being can bear.
Utter tragedy. It’s inconceivable. I can’t find the words to express how much sympathy I have for him and all the other poor souls who’ve had this happen.
When my child was born I saw a chapel in the maternity unit and thought “that’s odd” and it dawned on me why it’s there and in my sleep deprived state I broke down right there. That’s a child who never really lived. Imagine caring for a child for all those years to lose them, gonna have to stop now as welling up.
It’s a wicked world and while it’s nice to think life is a comedy, ultimately it’s a tragedy.

Absolutely heart-breaking.
As a father of 3, I can’t imagine the pain that DC and his family have been through.
He is a true inspiration and a top, top bloke.

It’s a wicked world and while it’s nice to think life is a comedy, ultimately it’s a tragedy. Losing a child must be the hardest thing imaginable. My son goes to a special school and hardly a year goes by without him losing some of his friends, such is the severity of their complications. He also turns 18 in the near future which makes this article even more poignant. I went to the National Memorial Arboretum a few years ago, it was the SANDS section that got to me the most. It takes some effort to live with a loss, it'll never go, that hole will forever be there. Top, top man and dad, full respect to DC.

I wasn't going to reply after readng it yesterday but...
Boy that was a hard read, I admit to crying like a baby whilst reading.
How DC manages to gets up every day I really don’t know. What a man.
Total respect for him, I love him like a (younger) brother...and I don't even have a brother!
Still think we sacked him too soon. He got us up twice and deserved more than we gave him. Even if we went down, I think we should have kept him and he would have got us back up.
Would have him back in a heartbeat and wish him all the best in the world, a true gentlemen

I haven’t read the interview, I can’t bring myself to do it. I lost my daughter just over 2/12 years ago(different circumstances) but the heartbreak, devastation and anger (for me) is still there. As for getting up each day, that’s a struggle but there are usually other people relying on you to carry on. I loved DC and would love to see him come back one day, what a man💙
