I don’t think it was that bad and there were positives imo.
Taylor suggested he needs to work with the players and build a style that they can buy into and IMO there was evidence of that by the dugouts.
Taylor was much more placid first half and seemingly made small correctional suggestions here or there. Second half he was talking to the players constantly providing instructions on how he wants them to play.
It was almost military general style. I also quite enjoyed him laying into the officials at volume to do their job!
That’s to add to substitutions at the right time dropping players who deserved to be dropped based on their performance.
Stick with MT and I think he’ll figure out a style and way to get these players playing and those who won’t he’ll ship them out and replace them.
It made me realise just how quiet JB was. I don’t recall him saying a word to the players from the touch line. Think we have to go back to GC to a manager asserting themselves on the touch line like that.

Once he's able to sign some left side players, a midfielder and a striker or 2.

Utter rubbish
No direction, no game plan let alone a plan B, couldn't keep possession or string passes together, looked like a bunch of strangers out there...and then there's 2 talking verbal diarrhea for 90 mins and half time!
An afternoon well spent
At least we're not required again until Boxing Day...if I can be bothered

Realy could have done with all 3 points. Tough set of fixtures coming up , play like this and by New year we could be hovering above the brown stuff

Think we were lucky to get a point in the end, after the Cheltenham player missed a header from about a foot out. Cheltenham very poor, they'll go down. As for us, think Taylor needs half a squad in the window. I thought Cheltenham played well personally. They had a game plan and stuck to it. You could see the makings of a typical DC side in that. Thought Cheltenham were dreadful, good at giving away and getting away with fouls here and there. Probably one of the worst teams I've seen at the mem in the last two seasons, DC will need to perform a miracle to keep them up, just hope we don't get dragged into it.

Well, I am fairly sure this will be the final season for a number of players at the club. Could well be a struggle to maintain a mid-table finish. Matt Taylor will certainly have his work cut out to improve the situation!

That was pretty awful. I much preferred it when we tried to play football. Pumping it long had never been hugely successful for us (or any fun to watch) seriously going backwards!

I walked out of the ground today and I honestly don't know what our tactics or games plan was. Absolutely diabolical.
We need to get to 50 points as soon as we can and start again next season.

Dire first half, tad better 2nd but overall this was a scary performance and rightly will have people worried. There are a number of players who need shipping out to lower league football where they belong.

And I believed in JB. Goes to show that deep down he was lucky, and I believed we had a team that would become God's JB full of sh** (I was a JB supporter) and now I understand I have been so wrong. Our players looked funked, clueless and etc etc 😠 Aye, Barton left 6 weeks ago. If we talking about the players, I went to Portsmouth first game of the season and we looked solid. There is a decent squad here. Todays tactics in first half some of the worse I've seen for years, slow and resorted to hoofing it to Martin who had no support. Second half was marginally better, can only assume Taylor did have a pop. If a hoof ball team is what we become then I will be annoyed. Also crowd was woefully quiet. No atmosphere at home games at all. I think the tactics were to mix it up , at times we tried to play out from the back and Cheltenham pressed us well and we really struggled to do it just like we did under Barton , at times we looked to go long like under Coughlan to Martin but as ever nobody was close enough to him to play off him and at other times we passed it about with a decent tempo like we did under DC. I think that’s the way forward for us, if we’d tried to play out from the back the whole game today we’d have lost that football match I’ve got absolutely no doubts about it. Not Taylor’s fault that most of them played like they had two left boots on. So many players out there performing under what they’re capable of , easy to say ship them off to non league but the majority of them are good enough for this level they need leadership, belief and time on the training pitch with a new manager who’s only been here a week.

I think under Joey we controlled games, I always had hope we could avoid the one or two mistakes and start turning games into wins I’m not sure there was any game plan there today. First haf we were pumping it long like the dark ages. Second half was better but it had to be surely? The first half was the worst all season (aside the second half at Crawley) getting rid of Joey and then Mangan look like big mistakes to me. Appreciate not everyone liked Joey. (Understand why)

Very frustrating that we’ve come from looking a decent outfit on day 1 of the season at Pompey to that complete utter dross today. Two extremely poor sides on show

Mate of mine broke his leg this week and I had heart surgery. We both swerved the right game by the sounds of it. 😁
UTFG and onwards and upwards. 🏴☠️

Think the wind had a big impact on the game. Looked like first half we tried o go long with the wind mainly behind us, second tried to play more on he ball into the wind.
Not really sure what to make of it all. Evans and Grant played well, but often to deep. Collins came on and made mistake after mistake. Sill not sure about Vale, he got a fare amount of ball but failed to use it. Thomas was Thomas, good performance.
Everyone made mistakes today, often due to the wind.

We were frustrated about missing peices of a puzzle now we can'r even see what the pieces are. Looks very much back to square one and Taylor has a big job on his hands.

Think the first half today, was the worst performance I've ever witnessed. Absolutely bloody awful. No skill, effort, clue about what we were trying to do.
Awful tactics. Second half a bit better, but right now think we are in a relegation battle.

People are becrying us not dominating games but we dominated games for 2 months and it hardly got us anywhere. Because we couldn't take guilt edged opportunities against the likes of Pompey, Barnsley, Lincoln, Oxford, Reading and Orient. As I said on a different thread, with a finisher things could be looking very different.
