I agree with the other posters in that we miss your reports, even if we didn't agree with them they were good to discuss.
You feel the whole club, playing wise, is a mess again. Perhaps by January things will improve if we appoint a DoF or HoR and Chief Scout along with some new coaching staff.

The owners said they had invested plenty and expected an 8th place finish. That will still be the target for MT. The board certainly wont be happy writing this season off. The way we played on Saturday finishing 8th from the bottom surely is the target now, if you think a top 8 finish is still on the card then you're living in cloud cuckoo land. Tomorrow night is now a massive game for MT as he can't afford a hammering at a L2 side. the worry is after the next run of fixtures we could be about 20 points of the play off spots.looking down may be more of a concern. We will need some definite bounce over the festive period.

I think we definitely now need to take one fixture at a time as looking at the next half a dozen is just depressing, a month or so ago I was really looking forward to the three festive games.

I can’t do a cartwheel so that’s a lie for a start Metaphorically speaking of course. Forward roll? Sausage roll?

I do miss your match reports Steve, though I generally felt you were way too mean to Ollie Clarke back in the day as he wasn’t that bad. And we’ve had many worse. Goodness knows what’s going on at the moment but I hope Matt T can fix it briskly, or at least hold us steady until the summer. That’s what I was going to say! Really enjoyed the reports but I swear Ollie had it away with his missis or something!

I thought this on Saturday after a match which must rank as one of the worst I have ever watched with both teams being as bad as one another with an incredible number of simple passes going astray and some long moments where the two teams seemed intent on passing the ball back to each other. Many would probably say thank god i dont do match reports anyway! I dont do them anymore because watching the games on a TV screen is not the same as being present at the ground and seing the wide picture. Due to health reasons i have only been to one game in the last 2 years but watching Saturday made me not worry if i never watched them again. It really was that bad and what concerns me is that these players should all have been trying to show the new manager what they can do- on that performance i would suggest Sunday morning football I totally agree with you. ( If I'm allowed to ) But saturdays match especially the first half was one of the worst certainly in my top five of games I have witnessed in the 60 plus years of going to watch Rovers. At one point I think we were defending a corner with about 7/8players on the line and not one further up the pitch than the penalty spot. If I'm to renew my season ticket I will need to see a vast improvement. Where have you been for the last 3 years? This has been the tactic started in the Premiership and adopted by most other clubs. The theory (and there was a video from Cooper about it), asks the question "Where do you want to leave space?" The conclusion that modern football has come to is "Not in the penalty box".

I’m pretty crestfallen really and losing a bit of interest. Now, I note the new directive on JB, but when we had him appointed I thought - this is different . It’s someone high profile who might have some contacts higher up. A bit unique. Now we are back to “vanilla L1 manager” and unless we have a big budget, we aren’t going anywhere. Back to percentage football it looks like and the tedium this promotes. Boring post match interviews, we are back to being any other club and most likely will have 2 years of “wait until the next window” until we appoint another boring L1 manager with an average budget and average performance. DC had a bit about him and wasn’t afraid to rock the boat, this was the last manager to make me feel like we had any chance of something different. I’m going to always support the manager, MT gets the backing but it’s like going from Hollywood back to Christmas panto in terms of excitement. Has to be said, even Neil Warnock or someone like that might have roused a bit of enthusiasm. I’ll always be a gashead and I’ll always go when I can and I’ll always be behind every single person at the club while they’re in charge as I’m loyal to the end, but I haven’t been this uninspired for a long time. Forget this season too, we’re brought in a percentage manager with a load of cultured footballers so yet another “rebuilding” job until about 2025. Yawn. You note the new directive but then continue. This whole post is a disguised "We shouldn't have sacked Barton" post. JB has gone. Deal with it. As a club we don't need fans harping on about JB at every result that doesn't go our way.

Hate to break this to you, but you aren’t the spokesman for Bristol rovers, you’re a lairy lady garden on a football forum and you don’t get to say what this club needs. You read into whatever you want. It’s lady gardens like you who can’t stop your gums flashing and wind your neck in which is why the moderators had to put rules in place for a start. Just wind your neck in and let it go.

The owners said they had invested plenty and expected an 8th place finish. That will still be the target for MT. The board certainly wont be happy writing this season off. They’re living in dreamland if they seriously expect a top 8 finish. Not only do we have a new manager with a squad of players that aren’t his and it seems don’t necessarily fit the style of football he wants to play, but we’ve also lost 4/5 key members of staff and have zero recruitment setup at the club with just three weeks until the next transfer window. I agreed with the decision to part ways with the poundland Andrew Tate we previously had in charge, but there’s no doubting that we’re a bit of a mess currently. I only say it as it was the declared reasoning for the sacking of JB. If they believe their investment warrants 8th place they will surely still hold that view. I cant see them swallowing a 15th place spot for example.

Well shut the f up then and don’t play the victim when you get exactly what you asked for Pleasant. Someone seems to have misinterpreted the rule as “you can’t say anything positive about the Barton era” You may well want to pull up the drawbridge. When he was here it was a-ok to drone on and on about how he needs to leave. Now they have what they wanted, banning any discussion of Joey now seems to be what they want; so if we bomb they can stick their fingers in their ears and rely on banning and shutting down of debate. It’s not the broad sunlit uplands they described yet is it. For the record I was getting pretty tired of the football and I was pretty non plussed either way. We were getting predictable and I was 50:50. I’m fed up of these lady gardens jumping down your throat, taking conclusions which aren’t there because they’re so partisan and amped up about this issue you have to tread on eggshells. So yes, I refer to my previous “wind your fking neck in” I don’t see why I have to explain myself every time because there’s so much sand up peoples cracks. I referenced DC being another big Character, if they’d fking read what I said instead of immediate blind rage that someone said something which wasn’t entirely anti Joey they’d know this . Just give it a fking rest. And yes, you get an appropriate response, if you don’t want to be spoken to like a lady garden don’t act like one.

I watched his post match interview, I thought it was balanced and it felt like he still appreciated the fans and showed us respect while still wanting to win the game.

And another thread descends into a shouting match about Barton. But it doesn't have to, does it. That is the point. The comments made, they weren't constructive really. It was the same old, same old we shouldnt have sacked JB. It can be protested as to that wasnt what was said but if you read on, its about vanilla this and vannilla that. Just going over old ground again. Then to come out firing with name calling, it's just exactly the behaviour the mods have made a good attempt at avoiding. If you look at the match day thread, it's the same person who raises JB on about page 4 or 5 with the same old rubbish. We have the JB thread where anything JB has done or could've or should've or didn't do. Let's keep it all over there. If this person had just joined, we would have though they were a WUM and would have got a ban.

We know, he thinks we shouldn't have sacked JB. Possibly, you also have that view? We know that, we get it. However mentioning that at every opportunity and then getting aggressive isn't really what is going to bring us together as a set of supporters.
