JB got slated for signing half of Fleetwoods team, dont want the same to happen now especially given the mess of Exeter. Given that we have previously signed players from teams that werent managed by the manager it is possible. Just begging them to think a little laterally. Going back to old teams for players is so narrow sighted, it worries me as its either the easy option or shows a massive lack of wider awareness. Wonder if anyone at the ACN small teams like Cape Verde and Mozambique getting strong results. We should certainly be scouting the AFCON tournament, and the younger age group tournaments. Other clubs with less resources than us have made a success of that particular market. Still largely untapped in my view, especially by clubs in this country. Now the transfer rules about signing overseas players has been relaxed, why wouldn't a club try to take advantage of that? In February 2023 then 18-year-old Mikayil Faye signed for the Croatian 2nd tier club NK Kustosija Zagreb (average attendance 165) direct from Senegalese club Diambars for a nominal fee and 5 months later he is signing for Barcelona for a reported €5m fee plus add-ons. Alagie Saine impressed with The Gambia youth international sides and joined Danish second tier club AC Horsens and is now worth probably 10 times as much or more. They previously signed James Gomez two years ago straight from The Gambia club Real de Banjul for a reported €40k and sold him this summer to Sparta Prague for a reported €1.1m. This summer another promising youngster from the excellent crop of Gambia youth internationals, Bakary Jawara, moved on loan to Slovakian 2nd tier club Pohronie (average attendance 400) with an option to later make the deal permanent. Elsewhere, the youth internationals Kwaku Karikari and Zubairu Ibrahim moved to Jedinstvo Ub (average attendance 1,200) in the Serbian 2nd tier straight from the Ghanaian league and are ripping it up. gaschat.co.uk/post/947497gaschat.co.uk/post/947009gaschat.co.uk/post/947401

I mean Coutts, Finley and Saunders were all reasonable signings that contributed to a promotion. No doubt Rossiter is a good league one player- the risk there is fitness. The advantage you have going back to the well of a former club is that you have an idea of former players interest and you know the salary expectations. It already makes the transfer easier. No reason to sniff at that. At the same time- yes look as wide as possible

If Taylor knows the player and knows that he can bring something to the squad, then there is no harm in it. I don't think he's going to sign half of their squad, but he will know if one of two of them is worth it.

Happens in all lines of work, people bring in folk they've worked with before and already have relationships with.

Sounds like Fry pushing the player out tbh. What Charlton offer him and the nature of the negotiations should be between him and Charlton.

Odd for him to reject Charlton - they must have offered more than Peterborough.
At the moment, Posh going to get very little for him - I am sure the club would be interested if it was £200k - we might get him for that on the last day of the window.
I can't see how Taylor wouldn't want a 25-30 goal a season striker.
If I were JCH, I wouldn't drop down to L2 - brassing himself off to that league. Gillingham is about as appealing as a night with Lee Johnson.
