“Wanted to waste on JCH” ! At least make it sound real Topper, JCH was a missed opportunity down to awful club administration, it would have been one of our biggest ever statement signings and most agree would literally have changed our season and been the icing on the cake of a very good squad. Perhaps but it doesn’t matter how many agree with you, you surely know there are no guarantees that it would pan out like you’ve suggested. If it were that easy to get a top two spot then everyone would do it. It’s a good thing that we didn’t buy him given we’ve changed managers and our current one doesn’t seem to want him. Just an alternative view.😉 UTG! I’m all for alternative views 👍🏾 but you’ve replied to something you’ve made up out of thin air! I didn’t mention top two. 🤦🏾♀️

But, I think by you saying that signing JCH it would have ‘Literally changed our season’ makes me think the clear implication was that we would have been promoted. I can’t think what else you could have meant by saying it would ‘literally changed our season.’ But apologies anyway and given what Posh have said and what’s been coming out this end it seems unlikely and so we may be arguing over something that isn’t going to happen. Best wishes for 2024, I’m sure we can agree that things are looking a bit more positive than 2/3 months ago. 👍👍👍 UTG!

IMO all we need in Jan is: • LWB • CB (cover) • ST (with pace) • Extend Martin to the summer Anything additional to that would be a bonus. And imo - a goalkeeper - with a view to a permanent signing.

Or he's got the £1m(?) JB wanted to waste on JCH but doesn't want agents to know that he's got still £'s to spend in the January sales? Good to see he's rolled out the usual "you don't get value in January" even though most clubs still sign up to half a dozen players! “Wanted to waste on JCH” ! At least make it sound real Topper, JCH was a missed opportunity down to awful club administration, it would have been one of our biggest ever statement signings and most agree would literally have changed our season and been the icing on the cake of a very good squad. Who knows what would have happened, JB could have still decided that life was better being a podcaster than working for our new owners and so we'd still be no better having spent £1m+ on JCH. There's clearly more to our upturn in form than just changing managers.

Would a goalie be happy to sit on the bench until the summer or alternatively is changing the goalie mid season when we're on a good run of form really that wise a move?

Will we, won't we.
I can see likes of Bogarde going back to their parent club. We have too many Central midfielders. On current form Evans, Grant Ward and Finley would be hard to drop. When we aren't ticking, there are games that we get completely overrun.
However With Luke McCormick and Woods on the bench do we need a 6th CM.
Is Jack Hunt injured again, so do we need more cover in defense?! Vale not natural defender imo but drops back, on the bench we have Hoole and Josh Grant.
Then up front we have, Collins, Martins and Marquis and Brown. Is this enough fire power that will see us climb the league and if the target is Championship, is it good enough?

Isn't Woods is also on loan, if so, can we do better than both him and Bogarde in the loan/transfer market? We really need a dominant DCM I'm not sure Woods or Bogarde fit that description, although the former is probably good back up for Finley. What's happened to Rossiter, is his Rovers career virtually over?

We won't get them all in Jan but I think we'll get a striker and a left sided player for sure. I'm expecting Woods or Bogarde to go back to their respective clubs to allow that to happen.

Sounds about right, although my question was more to do with the GK. I'm not sure we will or should replace Cox mid season, although if the opportunity was there to take someone like Lawrence Vigouroux from Burnley for example, I'd be willing to do it. But only if a significant upgrade.

Who knows how a goalie who's not played 1st team football for a half a season is going to perform, Cox like the rest of the squad seems to have stepped up a gear in recent games.

Joe Taylor recalled from Col U by Luton. Sounds like someone we could do with?

Certainly has made an impression on Colchester fans - "Taylor has proved to be one of the best acquisitions in the past 10 years" "Joe Taylor is an instinctive striker - one of a rare breed in the modern game. He is more than capable of scoring 25 goals plus a season playing at this level. I should imagine his value has rocketed up since the beginning of the season"
