He looks good. Another former non-league gem. Certainly has made an impression on Colchester fans - "Taylor has proved to be one of the best acquisitions in the past 10 years" There are some ridiculously good players as always in the non-league game waiting to be discovered. Hopefully in the future we are in a position to discover the next Joe Taylor or whoever when they are showing potential in non-league football.

Desperately need an experienced keeper, and at least 1 central defender. I'm sure Cox will be a top keeper but he's not what we need. Another 3 goals conceeded with a very inexperienced keeper and back 3.

Just a shame we seem to pick the wrong ones like Bernard Mensah and Jonah Ayunga

Joe Taylor recalled from Col U by Luton. Sounds like someone we could do with? EX Peterborough striker...

Still looks like a rabbit caught in the headlights at corners etc, I doubt he either gives the defence confidence nor instructions, if we really want to challenge for a top 6 place this season he's not good enough, if we don't then we need to do better in the summer.

We are probably 5 or 6 players off top 6. Realistically we are not bringing in 6 quality players. Cox and most of the others are good enough to keep us out danger until the summer. I'd like to see us send back Woods and Bogarde and get in a Centre half, a mobile striker and some midfield cover. I'd expect all 3 to be loans.

Do you get a credit for another if you send one back?

There are some age restrictions also where only 2 can be over 23yrs. (I think) I dont know if you can send 2 of the 8 back and get 2 more loans in January.

I think he’ll recall Connolly and bring in Hartridge from Exeter.

Wood’s performance today was a disgrace, should never pull on a Gas shirt again. Absolutely bloody awful.

If Wilson is out I'm not sure we have a defender good enough to challenge at the right end of league one. Or at least not one who can play their game and help to organise the rest of the defence.
Hopefully Taylor has the squad in the gym immediately to help shed some of the extra weight that they seem to have had since the summer.
I'd be all for terminating contracts and trying to trim the fat on the wage bill but can't see that happening.
Ideally I think we would need 7 to make the squad competitive for the playoffs but the budget being in the state it is, then we probably need at least an experienced CB to keep us where we are. Anyone know where Guy Branston is these days? As others have alluded to here, Taylor seems to think that's unlikely so I'll be intrigued to see what business we do over January.
The reports were that his first demands of the recruitment team were for a pacey forward so I look forward to seeing who we get linked to.

I meant mutual termination rather than sacking termination. Like I said, I'd imagine it's unlikely that any of the players we'd want to offer that option to would be willing to take it with the good wages that they're on. As for Pirate's comment on our lack of recruitment team, for better or worse, there's a distinctive difference between us having scouts and us trying to recruit players. Last I knew, we had one even if we don't have the other.
