Everybody really put in a shift against Portsmouth and I hope they are all good to go again.
Marquis was excellent at chasing down everything , so would definitely start him. No way can Martin do that.
Finley fought really hard and I sense may miss out as he was shattered.
Chatted with Anthony Evans after the game and he was full of flu … played through it which says a lot !
Worry that if Brown and Woods start and to a lesser extent Bogarde it will be 8v 11 and we will get overrun . Could we play four at the back and move Crama into holding midfield if Finley is out ?

3 consecutive home games sold out Would help if we had a fully available South Stand to make this more impressive. The form we're in under MT we'd be filling that out too. I thought the atmosphere was fantastic Tuesday! I was sat in the new South stand (in corner) and I said to my old man that it's such a shame it's not ready. The atmosphere and the money is a blow

Having not beaten Charlton in ages , we have now got an impressive winning run against them , no reason to think this will not continue even without a best 11.
See us and them having similar seasons tbf , hit or miss with the play offs.
As some were talking about the new stand , any news about the east? Some said that people were measuring up etc some weeks ago.

I have no info/inside scoop etc..but our group were in full agreement that we may not have an option to renew our East Terrace ST’s next season. And if we did, they’ll likely be limited with all of us on the terrace crammed towards the thatchers end as the ‘bottom’ end of the east terrace/stand is taken care of and construction begins. As I say, just an assumption.

The application will go in around late summer 2024 with a committee decision around late spring 2025. The first phase may start in a year or so. Surely it will affect the 2025 / 26 STs but I like your optimisim and hope your correct !.

I just hope the game is on... would be a total bummer if it is rained off after selling out! Just panicking slightly because it is torrential rain outside at the moment and I am really looking forward to tomorrow as I missed the Boxing Day game and I've tickets for tomorrow with the Mrs and my parents - so hoping it'll be another corker!

Would love to start the same team Friday but assume there will be some rotation. No news of additional injuries Does he start Hunt? If so, can only play Thomas too if reverting to 4 at the back. Wouldn’t be against that but did like the way we had an overload in midfield. Charlton appear to play 433 so could match them up a bit more Hunt Taylor Wilson Vale Finley Ward Thomas Evans Collins Marquis If Finley struggling Bogarde would be a good option in a more confident on the front foot side? My favoured formation with our squad would be 4-2-3-1 as it enables to get more of our best attacking players on the pitch but I suspect MT’s default set up is always going to be a 5-3-2. Although Thomas has done well at wingback I don’t think it’s the best position for the long term so where else does he fit in? Finley has found his form in recent weeks otherwise I’d have been tempted to play Evans slightly deeper as the playmaker/quarterback and let Thomas play a more free, central attacking midfield position. Think Evans isn’t the same player further back and has never looked as good when playing there. His ability is his excellent control and being able to drift past a man ,look up and play an incisive ball . He’s quick thinking and ideally suited playing at the tip of a midfield diamond. In my opinion of course 👍😀

The atmosphere and the money is a blow Was the view good ? Wasn't great to be honest. First place I sat down it has the 2 pillows in parallel with eachother couldn't see the centre circle. Then moved to the left side and the end pillar covered 3/4 of the goal in front of the Thatchers. I saw the Evans goal fine as I was expecting it to go in, and I seen the ball go in the net for the second but had no idea how it was scored.

No point changing Evans whilst hes on such good form and also has not been as good when played in the different position.

In my opinion of course 👍😀 I don’t disagree but I think he’s got the football brain and athleticism to play a bit deeper in the longer term where he can dictate the pace of play. He isn’t afraid to get stuck in, from deep he can make surging runs (a bit like Chris Lines in his prime) as well as spraying passes around. He’d still need a holding type midfielder alongside him. I’d only drop him deeper to accommodate Luke Thomas if Hunt ends up the preferred choice at right wingback in a 5-3-2. It’s a shame we’ve only got one Anthony Evans though as he’s probably our best number 8 and and best number 10 !!!

Someone I know was sat up in the corner and said the view was not that good, but then if you look at some of the blogs from a couple of Portsmouth fans sat in the south stand the view did not look that bad. It’s a shame it’s not been made ready for the Christmas games as we would have been close to 11500 tomorrow night. UTG

Charlton forum pretty much saying not much hope for them They have the players there to be doing a lot better, but ive been saying the same thing for a few years now. For whatever reason nobody seems to be able to get them challenging. We will need to nullify Dobson and Blackett-Taylor to come out on top imo, and we all know about May.

Alfie May has 19 goals in 28 matches for CAFC this season.
Corey Blackett-Taylor has 8 in 25.
These are their dangerous players.
Shame Alfie May was born in Gravesend and not Yate.

I've always rated Scott Fraser and he has has the ability to pick a pass and dictate the tempo for Charlton, as well as Dobson from deeper.
