Is this a case of Whataboutery ?. At least he's done the decent thing and stepped down pending the outcome of an investigation where as Rayner...... Seriously, how many Tory MPs have been embroiled in scandals in the last few yrs ? Meanwhile you bang on about Rayner and a “possible “ three grand owing 😂🙄 I don't think scandals and controversies are restricted just to the Tory MPs it's across the board. If you want a good read google Keith Vaz and read up on all his controversies and scandals over the years. Mind you you'll need 1/2 hour to read them all.

To whom? She's on the record as not yet speaking to HMRC or the police, her boss hasn't seen her 'tax advice' and her party hold basic documents that could be released today to exonerate her... Can you imagine HMRC having an issue with outstanding Capital Gains Tax and not communicating that to her? No? Nor can I? ...do we really have to keep explaining that - because she potentially mislead the council, the Electoral Commission and HMRC about where she was living - HMRC would process the form and assume no Capital Gains Tax was due... ...for the same reason the local council had no idea that potentially they were due money back on the right-to-buy discount and/or the single-person council tax discount. That's why it's called fraud...

So what you are asserting is that HMRC let it go? And, property financial details are a matter of public record. Here is a link www.gov.uk/guidance/about-the-price-paid-dataSo a council sells under Right to Buy with Ts&C's, but does not check when the property is sold on (Council Tax registration would be a clue). HMRC never check property transactions...right.

No, I (and many others) are saying Rayner deliberately lied about where she was actually living to make financial gains from HMRC and the local council by a variety of means. We know on her first tax return as an MP (filed in the second half of 2015) she declared various things about her Vicarage Road property, including that she had been living there since she got married in 2010. We have a series of claims from various people (including her own social media) that she was actually living in Lowndes Lane with her husband which make the claims on the tax return (and a variety of financial gains she made from the claim) fraudulent. No one is claiming HMRC or the council let anything go, the claim is that Rayner mislead them and made fraudulent financial gains because of it...

Tuesday ) Lizz Truss releases book slagging off Tory party. Wednesday) Internal opinions polls by Tories giving Sunak the worst ratings ever some at minus 27 -. Thursday) Give me 6k as bad people are after me MP. Friday) Nadine Dorries tweeting negative comments about Sunak . That's in 5 working days. And remember this is Tories on Tories. Won't you be obsessed with Angela Rayner ?

Interesting articles in Saturday's papers. Autumn statement expected in September will increase Stamp Duty (Times) from £250,000 to £300,000 (costing £3bn) and NI to be cut by 2p (FT, costing £9bn).
Also cuts to disability benefits (Mail and i) which have risen from £42bn to £69bn.

For anyone who thinks this is some kind of witch-hunt, this is the potential future Deputy Prime Minister of the UK being accused of misleading a variety of official bodies to profit personally...

For anyone who thinks this is some kind of witch-hunt, this is the potential future Deputy Prime Minister of the UK being accused of misleading a variety of official bodies to profit personally... It's just gets better and better. A random local who "claims" X & Y and a group of kids who smashed a window. The kids claimed Raynor said she was the landlord. Really. So the landlord rents the house to herself does she🤭 Meanwhile Mr Menzies "Menzies has previously been linked with scandals involving drugs, a Brazilian rent boy, and a drunk dog – although, crucially, according to “a source close to” (perhaps very close to) the MP for Fylde he wasn’t actually the one who gave it alcohol. I suppose at least the dog didn’t get shot on Exmoor." I am not claiming Raynor did properly declare her capital gains to HMRC, I don't know. Only the Land Registry, HMRC and Raynor herself knows. The last person to actually"know" anything is our antipodean Tory supporting friend who appears to confuse patronising condescension with intelligence.

These are not kids, they are both adults - both of whom have given statements to the police. *If* they are lying that's also a criminal offence, but I think we can all now conclude they are telling the truth and Rayner was the one lying. Also, they are not 'random' locals, they are happy to put their names to public statements as well as police statements. I have another £20 spare if you would like to place a similar bet that Rayner is completely innocent and will not have to pay anything in fines or repayments...

All very tedious whilst in the real world, Ukrainians and Palestinians are dying!! Good point, you missed Israelis off the list of those dying but we can gloss over that. The reason this is an important question (Rayner) is what kind of person do you want at the heart of the UK government?

All very tedious whilst in the real world, Ukrainians and Palestinians are dying!! It really is. All the while the Tories are taking GPs' out of local practice where they, the GPs', (you know medically qualified people who have access to and record your medical history,) from determining your fitness to work. Now, under the proposal, only government appointed types can do that. Did anyone mention 1984?

Plenty more important stuff happening and within existing government structures.
