Apologies for pointing this out again but the proposal is not for mandatory military service. My thoughts are that 80+ countries actually have a similar policy in place (including Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Singapore, France, Estonia, Lithuania) and others are considering something similar (like Germany). Yes, I was being patronising (again) - only because so often people in here so often jump to the wrong conclusions yet post their opinions as absolute fact, despite the actual facts of the topic being widely available with a quick search of the news... Like you with Rayner being guilty? 🙄😂 What makes you think my opinion on Rayner's guilt is wrong?

Is the plan that the law states you have to do military service or forced to do volunteer service if you can’t do military service? Those aren’t thoughts, those are claims that other countries are considering (not making election pledges) something similar. That is just a flimsy statement, not a thought or opinion. Presuming you know what one of those is, why don’t you tell us your opinion on this? So tell us, what has everyone said on here that is so factually incorrect that you feel the need to be so patronising and intellectually superior, rather than just making a civilised point? I’m very curious what made you think, ‘I now have the right to put myself above the others here and talk down to them’. It's not mandatory military service. That has never been the proposal, that is the "...headline..." from people who are happy to deliberately spread misinformation. I'm reaching the point where I'm wondering if it's patronising to link to some of the news stories about Sunak's proposal or some of the wider 'perspective' pieces comparing it to what those other counties either already do or are suggesting they will start to do... ...I'll let you google it. The trouble with social media is that whether it's ten, ten thousand or ten million people who see incorrect information they want to believe, no matter what the actual facts are so many of them will believe the false version that corrections are basically pointless. Doesn't mean I don't feel the need to correct it though... "people who see incorrect information they want to believe, no matter what the actual facts are". True, see Brexit as an example. In terms of the policy itself, what's your take?

Nothing from GMP, over to HMRC now.
"They say, having "completed a thorough, carefully considered and proportionate investigation", officers concluded "no further police action will be taken".
However, the force adds that "matters involving council tax and personal tax do not fall into the jurisdiction of policing" - and details have been shared with HMRC.
The statement ends by saying:
Quote Message: GMP has liaised with Stockport Council and information about our investigation has been shared with them. Details of our investigation have also been shared with His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC)." GMP has liaised with Stockport Council and information about our investigation has been shared with them. It's a start, but I'm not sure all of this is within the gift of the Government, will need EU cooperation.
"The shadow chancellor said Labour would "forge a closer relationship with our nearest neighbours in the European Union to ease the burden of bureaucracy and red tape on British businesses".
That includes a new veterinary agreement, an agreement on musician touring visas and the mutual recognition of professional qualifications.
She also said Labour would bring investors to the UK "to bring growth back to Britain, to bring hope back to Britain... to deliver a better future for working people"."

In terms of the policy itself, what's your take? I don't mind it as a policy - I've volunteered for a few different things over the years from a teenager where I knew nothing (but learned a lot) to a where I was older and achieved a lot (but was grumpy throughout). Will it ever get started? Probably not this time. Should it be considered outside of an election cycle? Almost certainly it has merits and problems, the problems shouldn't stop it being discussed though...

Hopefully there'll be more fundamental agreement or discussion in the 2025 review, but I suspect not much done before the next GE in or around 2029. It's probably the way for the time being, a gradual rebuilding oc trust and side agreements.

I take my news from BBC, you? Tory website directly? But it is mandatory military service. Not the same as how North Korea has it, sure, but I never claimed that. It is military service, thats mandatory. If your entire argument is based on semantics, then it shows how desperate your argument is to defend them. Now, all we need is your opinion on Sunak's new policy. Why do you keep avoiding the question?

You really have got egg on your face on this one. Wasn't long ago you said when trying to smear Rayner, "what kind of person do you want at the heart of the UK government?" Sunak was fined by police for breaking the law, Rayner has been investigated and found no wrong doing. So, what kind of person do you want? Or is she still guilty in your mind because someone in the Mail said something?

Even though GB / mail news went on and on and on and on about Rayner . I think it's desperate when you make false accusations about people and find them guilty before they are lawfully judged .

He knew they are 25% behind and a conviction could cut the lead massively making starmer look a clown. It's back fired and will make the Tories look desperate and poor losers. There won't be any apologies or thanking the Police for the time and energy investigating . This must feel a bitter blow to the Tory accuser(s).
