What is it people are trying to prove here?
Lets say (although it’s highly debatable) we have a Top 8 budget.
We are 10th in good form and have at least one game in hand on the clubs above us! So you could say we are slap bang where our budget allows us to be.

"When we came in this summer we have invested and made 13 signings. I think for the budget comparing to other budgets in the league we should be around top eight if not better and the results do not reflect what we have spent"
Hussein AL-Saeed 29th October 2023 - following the sacking of Joey Barton

So the shared data states we are 7th in the budget table, the nee owner said we should be in the top 8, the previous manager never moaned while manager for us or after when leaving about the budget 🤷🏼♂️
I think we have a top 8 budget.
And bar FA Cup winners Wigan, we have the smallest attendance of the top 7 and the worst ground of all of them. Bigger clubs below us as well and in better stadia.
We let someone hijack the club, thankfully the new owners stopped this straight away.

What’s your point?

I guess the report and accounts will verify this, I’m will star this thread, happy to be proved wrong but I think we have some horror reading coming

What’s your point? The point is, the previous manager asked for a better budget, he got it and was sacked with us positioned in something like 17th. The assistant and new man have thankfully got us to 10th. It’s all hypothetical saying we have a game in hand, I believe we have overachieved with what we have and we could easily be go down the league with our games coming up. If we don’t spend this January, any of the £800k pulled on JCH, it shows where the owners think we are on expenditure. The report and accounts will tell all, I’m glad Matt Taylor admitted as well that it’s a big squad

Got it 👍🏾

Got it 👍🏾 Happy with our position “now”, the season doesn’t end in January, worried about our spending on players and with no resale value and injuries, I hope this approach changes. I don’t want us to spend more unless we can have a resale value in the future, I would like us to use the loan market. I would not break the bank this window. Hope this clears this up you 👍

We were underachieving 8 weeks ago when we sacked Barton, surely “over” is bettering your budget level, if we say 8th we are not, 7th on the data provided, we are not, interested how you come to your conclusion on this?

So you could say we are slap bang where our budget allows us to be. Not ignoring a change of manager and quite a few movements away from the playing side. I'm not sure what the points being argued are tbh? If our budget is top 8, that is very good when you look at our ground and low attendances against others. Much of our budget will be tied up on expensive players who have unfortunately got injured. However I expect many clubs could use the same excuse if required. If we sat top today, we'd be overarching. If bottom, we'd be underachieving. So to be midtable within reach of the top 6 in Jan is great.

Our squad is to big, we have signed to many players that we don't really require , why did we sign injury prone Friend, when his playing career was coming to and end. Then there is Woods we didn't need him . Much rather see us pay off some of these injury prone players and have a slimmer fitter squad with more quality than quantity. Didn't Gerry Francis survive on a squad of 20 players, nearly all the players he signed played a decent amount of games. For the size of our club we should be at least a top eight team in this division, we have under achieved for years , with the stadium improvements we should now be able to get back to where use to be. Regards bringing players a quality defender, pacey forward and retaining Chris Martin or replacing him if he doesn't stay is what we need.

Biggest budget in our history is a bit of misnomer as every season with inflation the budget will go up . Didn’t the 💩 post something like a £20m loss for the last yr ? So if we are losing money now it’ll be small fry compared to what we’d be losing if we ever got to the championship and wanted to stay there. Inflation is part of life, ticket prices went up, the price of beers in the club bars. And re DC management team, look at it in the conference to today, we have two nutritionists today! Inflation isn't consistent though, the accepted government rate doesn't necessarily correlate to that rate being applied to hospitality or ticket prices. Some will be passed on, some won't, some at different rates especially if third parties are involved. In footballing terms, it also depends on the largess of the owners at the time, windfalls, previous profits or losses, expected crowds, etc. The advent of the Premier league with TV and merchandising revenues have skewed the consistency too. There really are far too many variables to know. With regards to the nutritionists, are they salaried with NI, pensions, etc or consultancy based with fees?

I think you maybe need to make your mind up 👍🏾

We are overachieving on playing ability of our players, not on the money spent. To make it easier for you, I think we have blown the budget on a lot of average players, ones who can’t stay fit and ones overated. I think what Matt Taylor has inherited, I think he’s done incredible to get the results what he has but he pulled no punches yesterday and experienced the true side of our squad. My friend Gasdust text me yesterday, he didn’t go, he made a good point “honeymoon period often gets a lift out of players” Back to you, forget me, explain why we are overachieving brother? “ The fact we’re over achieving must be seen as a good thing 👍🏾”

Yeah but Yeovil, Burton, Luton, Wycombe, Port Vale, Bournemouth, Brentford, Rotherham, Gills, Walsall, Doncaster, Scunny, Colchester since our 1990 promotion have all overachieved on top 6 and gone one step further into the Championship. I was there the night Sincs scored in the 87th minute for our winner a few years ago at Luton.
