Can we all at least agree that this thread was better when it was just me and Roadman telling one another to F off? I can’t even use one of my favourite words now 💩🏠 because one of your PC Reg Hollis crew has banned it! People on this thread are saying Barton is having a breakdown, don’t be fooled by all this. Someone has told him, for your podcast to work, you need traction, you need to advertise and publicise it, to be fair to him, he’s marketed this well. But once he’s the usual controversial subjects, it’s over, Podcasts have peaked, the advertising revenue is on the way down as well. Le Tissier has done Covid to death, Andrew Tait owns women bashing, Simon Jordan’s is brilliant, Barton is like the bloke who found Facebook and set up a profile on 2022, have you seen this Facebook Laaaaaaaaaa! Ten minutes later I am personally insulted again, no ban as far as I can see. I actually don’t agree with Joey on his view a commentator had to play the game, the games are different. It’s aboht whether or not a candidate is good at commentating. Gender doesn’t come into that. It’s mainly an about how well they narrate a story unfolding and create iconic statements we can all latch on to. I’m saying hire people on the basis of this. That’s what I would consider the moral position and also the utilitarian one. What I would deem immoral is selecting a candidate based on something along the lines of “This group has faced systematic injustice and discrimination, and is held back by patriarchal power structures so we have a hiring policy which seeks to redress this imbalance” That’s not meritocracy. The reason I called you a narcissist is because you often tactically seek to discredit and character of those you argue with rather than debate the point. You have a long track record of doing this, and it’s well documented as a feature of machievalian aspects of narcissism. So it’s not a “big word” it’s a direct response to how you’re conducting yourself. Hopefully we can agree on the first point at least. Daddy issues comment is because I find it hard to fathom why you’d support discriminating on gender against anyone and my guess is that if you’re quite gleeful about this happening to either gender it’s probably due to poor relationships with that gender. That would have some credibility. But he doesn't, he goes beyond and states things on topics on which he knows nothing. By so doing he exposes his own prejudices, his disturbing justification or acceptance of violence and his apparent deep rooted misogyny. The more he speaks the worse it gets. I am one of those that opposed his appointment, but I did actually hope he would prove me wrong. He has not, the opposite, he is worse than I imagined. |

Currently as we have black rock/Vanguard imposing political values un democratically on any listed institution, several companies have targets for female management % by specific dates. You are assessed on gender balance in workforces and boardrooms. The counter to this is the idea businesses have the candidates but they are run by racists and sexists who deliberately sabotage the careers of others at the expense of their margin. Which I think it preposterous. The main determinate of privilege in this country is your economic background and that’s where you get the links and contacts to get high up - and the skills to do those roles. This tends to lend itself to those firmly established in a region with long family histories of money and connections. Go to China and you’ll find the same. It’s Chinese families with sons and daughters who have mixed with the elite who get the roles. Those ESG criteria will not be levied on the Chinese to ensure they have Europeans or Indians in their boardrooms, because it’s pretty obvious why there’s not many people from Stoke running Chinese companies. |
