I said I wasn’t posting for a while but this has been brought to my attention and I’m happy to go forward this way personally.
I’m sure there will only be 5/6 of us posting on this maybe, 10, the ones who never sang his name at games or the like or Chewey who stopped going games full stop.
Bideford can now stop doing his Victor Meldrew “I can’t believe it now” rants, I’m happy not to mention his name on other threads.
Let’s keep this thread near the top of the forum Baston Haters, that will get a 🐊 (bite) just in itself.!

Paul, you know I never have had a problem with you in the past and never disagreed with your posts unlike several others on here. However you have recently come back on here and you in my opinion are a changed man. I personally feel it’s not just down to one man but something else in your life. Whether I am right or wrong, I hope in the future you are able to discuss all things BRFC without continually returning to the same subject matter. I know now a designated thread has been set up for that and I will stay well away from it and hope it descends rapidly down the board and off the first few pages. |

The link doesn't work but if it's what you say Hugo (and no reason whatsoever to doubt that), then it is indefensible. Some of the football we played under him was the best since David Williams, in my view. However, especially since being sacked, he's seemingly lost all semblance of any marbles that rattled around up top. The truth is he never had them, this is who he has always but some peoples blind love for the club and desperation for results meant they completely closed it out of their mind and ignored it. Now, I’m not criticising people for that BUT it’s is an indicator of why Rovers are what they’ve always been, the fan base is very placid and happy to accept rubbish. I’d hope we are never put in a position like this again but if we are we shouldn’t be so accepting of what’s happening when it’s staring us all In the face what the end game was going to be. I’d say passive rather than placid as we are reactive in nature |

We are not the problem, we are enjoying our debate but we’ve got people like Bideford demanding the thread is locked or moved just because he doesn’t like it. This thread is 1000% based on Barton our ex manager, if you don’t like it, don’t open it, there are 15 other threads on page 1! I hold a leadership position at work, I can’t get involved in all conversations because of my role. I have a local pub, I know the majority in it, I choose not to get involved in some conversations like Brexit, I know where it goes. I suggest some of these snowflakes, PC Reg Hollis grow up and learn in life we have free speech and everyone is entitled to an opinion. I wonder how some of them navigate life, I really do. I await the usual crap, what has this thread become, it’s become a brilliant Barton bashing thread calling out the 💩🏠’s who defended and we will carry on posting as much as we want. Opinions are like penises. It's nice to hold your own, but you shouldn't try to ram it down someone else's throat. Unless she likes it 😂. Best left at that … |

gashead79 I also hadn’t posted for over a week, I was chilling Thursday night and was contacted by a MOD asking if I was impersonating another poster with a fake account. I’m not sure I can win with some posters Ok, but you put that issue straight and everyone can just get on? I'm sure the mods only want the forum to run smoothly and I certainly wouldn't give up my time to babysit this place! The forum members have split into groups and many topics are argued by those groups who are personal rather than objective. When we had ffsc meetings there were c20 posters who could argue amicably because they knew eachother. The way that people speak to eachother on here now is classic keyboard warrior faceless stuff. It's sad. Spot on mucker. It’s a great shame many do not make the effort to meet. The FFSC had some good meet up and I never ever saw anyone argue. It’s much harder to abuse people whom you have got to know. |

I think you're right, at least something has changed since he's left the club. I don't believe that someone with his short fuse would be able to contain himself and not let this vile nonsense slip out, although there were a few (holocaust being one). My guess is this is his reaction to rejection and failure, the penny has probably dropped that he's not going to manage at a higher level (if at all). It does look very much like a calculated and desperate attempt to stay in the limelight, but in actual fact I think the reality is that he's becoming unwell. Whether that's drink/drug/stress induced or something else is anyone's guess. I have been in the JB camp from day one TBF. Like the club quite prepared to give the guy a break with his sometimes erratic behaviour. On the whole I thought he did a pretty decent job when he came in. Seemed from the outside looking in to have galvanised and brought a higher level of professionalism to us. But it seems he really can’t help himself with his actions. Whilst I agree with everyone has a right to thier opinion. It does look increasingly like a self promoting side show. However what I will defend, is if he is having problems with his mental health from whatever the source. I genuinely wish he seeks the right and proper support if this is a cry for help. It does disappoint me that we don’t have a fixed thread on our forum for people to just talk about mental health and depression. So many club forums have this. Yes my fault perhaps I should have done this myself. But hope that a Mod takes sometime to think if it would be beneficial or not. |

I was in a similar camp to yourself about the man as our manager, wasn't keen on the appointment but there were some positives and I got behind him (not some of his behaviour though) but agreed with his sacking on many counts come the end. As for his mental state, well, I've not met the bloke but do work in that area myself and have observed a deterioration. No idea of why or the precipitating factors involved but his behaviour is irrational from what I see as a reasonably intelligent man. He appears to have lost insight which is a worry and why I don't think this is a calculated bid for attention. |

I think the problem with the forum on JB is that's its very hard to separate binary opinions.
I didn't particular want Matt Taylor so was accused as being a JB supporter. I didn't want Joey but accepted his appointment and then judged it against my expectations. Of which he did well.
Recently, he's made some pretty unacceptable comments. But with Joey X doesn't mean Y. He was still pretty decent manager for us, albeit one that perhaps should never have been appointed yet delivered one of our best days ever.
Hatred and anger doesn't achieve much,at any great speed. Try to interact with the behaviour/ action more than gloat about which camp you take. Pedestals unneeded.

I only go on my experience of my issues with mental health and depression. It’s an unbelievably dark place to be. Horrific if you don’t have support from your wife and kids. I completely get it that those that have never experienced it find it difficult to understand. I just hope that people around Joey see it and help if that’s what it is. As I said thought he did a good job for us, but now can’t really defend his personality and actions. |

There is an article in the Guardian today re Barton and wider topics, including a reference to Ricky Lambert, in the sport section. Probably on line too with no firewall. The following is from the last paragraph:
“ …something really quite sinister is happening here, a gathering movement of disaffected young men emboldened by our current political moment, of which Barton is merely an opportunistic symptom.”

Very interesting and Joey's 'rebrand' is something I'd noticed. For all his faults he never came across to me as one of the new loony anti government right wingers (far from it in his Corbyn-supporting days), but he seems to be lapping it all up now with relish. |
