Two words: Micheal Owen Also all this chat about women not being able to comment on the mens game reminds me of the Arrigo Sacchi quote "I never realised that in order to become a jockey you have to have been a horse first" Do you think someone who has never raced as a Jockey could provide expert analysis (not commentary) on Channel 4 Racing and explain how a jockey got his tactics wrong during a race or his technique jumping over a certain fence was wrong? Maybe not, but a senior female footballer player is certainly in a position to comment on the male game. |

A female ex jockey is perfectly qualified to provide expert analysis if she has been competing at the same level as the male jockeys, no problem with that whatsoever. I wouldn’t expect expert analysis to come from someone (male or female) who hasn’t competed at that level though. Using my other example. Do you think a female cricket ‘expert’ can give the viewer an insight in to what it is like facing a 100mph bouncer and provide a critique on a batsman’s technique in dealing with such deliveries when they’ve no experience of it themselves? For me it’s all about qualification to be an expert analyst not gender. I can’t take seriously someone who hasn’t competed at the same or similar level, it’s completely pointless. Presenting a programme or being a commentator is totally different - gender shouldn’t be a barrier. Ah gotcha, so Robbie Savage commentating on Europa League games makes your blood boil as he's never played at that level? Or is it just when its women? Its fair enough you can't take someone seriously that hasn't played at the level, but where we disagree I think is that the mens game is a higher 'level' than the womens game. Different for sure, but the Lionesses played (and won) a Euros final in a packed Wembley. I don't see why that is 'lesser' than when the men played. Come on then, slag me off again. Even some of my best pals told me I was wrong when I handed in my season ticket at his appointment. Once again be has proved what a lowlife he really is, but what concerns me most is that he is pictured in the media columns wearing our clubs kit. If ever there was a case for euthenasia, this is one. That's a bit melodramatic. Just a tad. Even I wouldn't recommend killing him |

I prefer male commentators, my wife a season ticket holder and my daughter in law just finished playing also prefer male commentators.
It's just a preference that some have regardless of gender.
Pundits i dislike male and female, would rather they show more of the match, when not live, than listen to them .

Former employee embarrassing himself further on social media. For those of you who told us he wasn’t sexist go and have a look at his latest drivel. And before any of you come firing shots at me for carrying on about him, it’s relevant to us cause it’s a conversation we had many times when he was here and despite clear evidence at the time that he held sexist views,many on here tried to defend it. Hahaha how sad, you do know your little group of haters, are actually a minority of the supporters. Lets get it right Wael employed Joey knowing his back catalogue, so lets not get so morally superior. Joey has moved on and currently building a new podcast studio, if nobody is interested in his views (which are not necessarily shared by others) then his podcast career will be short lived. What I remember of Joey was his ability to attract very good players to BRFC, such as Elliot Anderson, getting the club promoted, and thousands of supporters chanting his name and carrying him shoulder high on the pitch after that fantastic result at Rochdale. Now is the time to move on, and just hope the new messiah Tisdale 2 backs up his talk, starting on Saturday. Oh god...it's like watching endless reruns of "Planet of the Apes" |

Agreed - when watching any sport I want the ‘expert’ analysis to come from someone who has been there and done it at that level. I don’t want to watch England at a World Cup and then have someone who has played only conference level for example to be providing the analysis. They haven’t played at that level, same with women players. Another example could be cricket. How can you seriously have ‘expert’ analysis on Joe Roots defensive technique when facing 100mph bouncers when the highest you’ve ever faced in the women’s game is say 75mph? Completely pointless and no value to the broadcast. However, there is absolutely no reason why women can’t commentate and describe the action (I get some don’t like the high pitch though) or be the Lead Presenter of a show like Match of the Day or Sky Super Sunday etc… This is why I don’t read your posts. Why would anyone ever bother reading the posts of someone who’s not posted at the highest level. Have you ever been paid for your opinion? A critic? If not, I just don’t want to see it. I prefer male commentators just because I think they’re better at it. But I guess you have to keep practicing to get better at anything and it’s not going to change so I suppose in time the female commentating will improve. I hope so because the majority of them do grate a bit. I agree I'm not saying we shouldn't have female commentators but there are few out there that are simply clueless and are very grating to listen to. Even so there are some male commentators I can't stand listening to either Jonathan Pearce being one of them (plus he's a TED) his voice just grates on me. If you haven't played at the top level how do you know they are clueless? Taking Barton's view to it's conclusion none of us should be watching football let alone talk about it because the vast majority of us have never played professionally let alone at the "top level" So by default when we watch it we don't have any idea what we are watching and when we talk about it, even less idea. Really. What stupid clueless stupid little prick. Taking money from people, supporters, he holds in absolute disdain. No wonder he feels no angst with violence as he considers his victims of lower status. A small man in every aspect |

It's almost as if the current male pundits and commentators provide any valuable insight themselves. They're just there for casual viewers who might not understand offside aren't they ? There's barely any tactical insight beyond what most of us here could observe anyway, I don't need a world cup winner to explain that to me or to describe a goal in 20 clichéd words. When people harp on about preferring a male voice to describe what is taking place in front of you, the debate really has lost any relevance Well not really, if you find it excruciating to the 👂 why would you not express your opinion ? 💙💙💙 |
