Sexism is being dressed up as preferance by some here, as what Barton is saying is he doesn't like to hear women talking about football. I find it refreshing to hear women talk about the game, their perspective is just as valuable as an Alan Shearer or whoever. The game is moving on, we need more women to attend games and feel welcome. They should of course be allowed to talk about it ffs without worrying some dinosaur doesn't like the sound of their voice. |

That’s my experience oldie ! Of course. But it's a bit like music, or art, it is in the eye, or ear, of the beholder. Let's not forget TV commentators are in the entertainment business, we watch and listen to be entertained. This is what Barton does not understand. He thinks (I believe) he is superior and other forms of entertainment are inferior, for morons. Such is his unrelenting arrogance and he cannot admit his profession was funded by people he holds such disdain for. He will become a lonely, isolated man as he ages (my opinion). Out of touch with the world around him whilst he rants on about "issues" being resolved by scraps down the pub, in that this defines being a "man" Anyone who witnessed the Venture Inn in Knowle West in the late 60s early 70s knows how stupid that view is. Meeting my peers in 2003 in a reunion I couldn't help but note how small they were physically and intellectually. Barton is a current representation of those people. They were my friends, one or two still are. |

It's almost as if the current male pundits and commentators provide any valuable insight themselves. They're just there for casual viewers who might not understand offside aren't they ? There's barely any tactical insight beyond what most of us here could observe anyway, I don't need a world cup winner to explain that to me or to describe a goal in 20 clichéd words. When people harp on about preferring a male voice to describe what is taking place in front of you, the debate really has lost any relevance Well not really, if you find it excruciating to the 👂 why would you not express your opinion ? 💙💙💙 Well maybe because on a thread about outdated views regarding women's entitlement to talk about football, your mention of finding them doing so excruciating leads people to maybe presume you hold those views too. Come on then, slag me off again. Even some of my best pals told me I was wrong when I handed in my season ticket at his appointment. Once again be has proved what a lowlife he really is, but what concerns me most is that he is pictured in the media columns wearing our clubs kit. If ever there was a case for euthenasia, this is one. He’s the lowlife but you’re the one wishing death upon another human being. Hmm🤔 |

My belief is it might just take some getting used to for some as many of us have experienced male commentators for 50 years or more. That trend is rightfully changing despite what some dinosaurs want. Maybe try watching some of the women's game if you haven't already, you might be pleasantly surprised by the quality and the discussion |

As you say, the female voice is just not suited to it. However, political correctness is all. |

Pitch and tone change depending on whats happening. Women can talk about football as much as they like, then it's more down to content what you like or not .just like when you listen to men. |
