For now... (buy back clause? - first refusal?) Never tell your old boss to f*ck off when leaving.

Aaron Collins' message to our fans: "Gasheads, what a two-and-a-half years it has been. From scoring that screamer against Oxford in the FA Cup, to that 4-3 win away at Rochdale, and then making history with the 7-0 win on that final day - being a part of getting this club back to League One will live with me forever and I’ll never forget the feeling of being on top of that lamppost on Gloucester Road, celebrating with all of you Gasheads. Being named as League One Player of the Season 2022/23 was a special achievement, and I'm so grateful it was part of this incredible club. I couldn't have done it without the support of the Gasheads, and the noise you make, week in and week out. I will forever cherish the memories of playing in the blue and white quarters and hope one day I can be a part of the Gas family once again. Who knows what the future holds. I'd like to thank both the players and the staff who have been a part of my journey at Rovers. I've made friends for life, and have loved my time here. UTG Goodnight Irene. For now..." Top man, hope he does well at Bolton and someday he may be back.

For a change the time was right for both parties. Just wish there was the odd rumour of an incoming striker.

He’s not going there. It’s Bolton or he’s staying put I didn't realise you were the club spokesperson, when did you get that job? Any update on this? 😉😉

If AC bags a brace on April 6th, he’ll have scored as many goals at the Mem inside 90mins than he has the last 9 months with Rovers.
Madness.

I do worry now that clubs are going to hold us to ransom, making signing any replacement today even more tricky. Our pursuit of JCH in the summer window was very well publicised and we have only spent a rumoured £300k (on Conteh) of that £1m we were apparently offering to Posh for him plus this £750k we are getting for Collins. Transfer deadline day and the January window in general isn't exactly a good time to be getting value for money anyway, even more so if some of our rivals think we may have £1.5m to spend. If a club wants to move on a player they'll take the best offer available, regardless as to how much money we've got available.

Tbh, I'll only be happy with this business if we find a good replacement. If we don't then its atrocious. Exactly my thinking at the moment. Wouldn't be surprised if we took the money and stayed as we are until the rest of the season though! Given the lack of rumours that's looking very likely, the likes of Daniel will be dreaming about the money being spent in the summer but all know from past experience that's unlikely. I thought we built a new stand to challenge the top 10, budget wise, and also brought in the new co-owners for similar reasons?

I agree, but if the value’s not there I’m not against us pocketing the cash and spending it in the summer. Maybe get a loan in. It just depends on what we realistically think is achievable this season. Play offs seem a long way off and if we were to get promoted we’d be a million miles away from having a championship ready squad. Surely every club as the likes of Gibbons, Sinclair, Wood and Bogarde looking for a move, are they really all seeking top $ because it's January or just looking for a move to a club where they can play and possibly earn a contract next summer? I'd imagine the likes of Stevenage and Posh have no trouble signing players in this window.

Looked a good 75% full to me.

Matt Taylor and Aaron Collins departure:
You always want more [money], I think it’s fair to say but I think that we all felt that it was the right time for Aaron, for the club, for what he feels is a progression in his career. He’s got an ambition to play Championship football. We want to be a club where we can say that’s a realistic ambition with ourselves.
"Aaron felt he had a better opportunity and understandably so with their league position and their current league campaign but maybe, on reflection, the last 12 months have been quite difficult for him. I think the first half of last season was his best in terms of goal return. There was a lot of talk about international call ups, X, Y, Z. But probably since February last season it’s not quite happened and certainly since I’ve come into the building, there’s been a lack of rhythm.
"We felt it was the right decision to understand the situation and then capitalise

Why have you put this on the Wrexham thread?! ?? I haven’t? Merely my useless attempt at predicting what might happen. UTG Maybe my crystal ball was right….. Just waiting on that elusive striker….. UTG

How can the fee be undisclosed to the club? Surely they know how much he has gone for. I admire your faith.

Well reading Matt Taylor’s comments about the Aaron Collins money has really taken the water. It appears obvious that our club has given up on this season and told him the money will be available in the Summer. Let’s see what happens as that does not sound very encouraging with our strike force now on the bones of its ass. Perhaps us supporters can give up on this season and stay at home for the rest of this.
