Guess he's our only asset with any value so it makes sense if the people saying we need to balance the books more are correct. what about Thomas, isn't he worth anything?

Quite right to demand a mil or more for the current League One Player of the Year and current top assist creator. The Dunford's would certainly be asking for £1 million but can't see that being achieved given lack of goals and inconsistency. For me anything less than £600k and a good sell on clause would be a no.

Can demand what we want. Doesn’t mean we will get it. 500-750k imo. No deal then. We will see

Can't imagine anyone above us would want him so unless a Wrexham or Stockport get involved then I can't see him wanting to take a sideways move.

It would be a no deal from me, but wouldn't surprise me to see our better players leave for below their market value. It's what we do. Have to go back to the Dunford days for when we were sharp operators.

I said on another thread I would be very disappointed if this happens. You sign young, potential talent to play alongside the quality we already have. I know Collins form has been indifferent this season but he is still our most creative player. Realistically I think the minimum we should accept is £750k, I know people will say £1M plus but can’t see that being realistic

If it is Wrexham. Make them pay.. they clearly have loads of money, wealthy owners, big sponsorship deals, tv programme.
If they don't want to pay 750k+ then no deal.

Taylor’s pretty much just confirmed he’s off.

On the surface this is bad news. He’s had a lot of assists and we have been judging him on previous form. If he was introduced to us as a winger we would be fairly happy, he seems to have remoddled to a winger, he wants to go outside more.
How happy I feel on this is in terms of who’s coming in. It may well be we are confident of a replacement and it just made sense that we got decent money for him if people are in for him.

Taylor’s pretty much just confirmed he’s off. Just not been the same player for us this season, so many missed chances. Would be happy with 750-900k (thats with add ons).

MT on Aaron Collins' absence to BBC Bristol: "That’s not my decision, it’s Aaron’s decision. We understand that there’s a lot going on behind the scenes in terms of what might happen over the next few days in the transfer window. We had that discussion with him yesterday and he didn’t feel as though he was quite in the position to be available for today."

So he’s refused to play. Good riddance.

Sorry Aaron but that is terrible "not in the position to be available"- so have we told him "we are not in the position to pay him". He is contracted to us and should be available to play until he is transferred.

Ok so thinking a bit deeper and taking aside my Collins bias (I love him as a player and think he's our best asset personally), it probably is the right time to sell. 26, L1POTY, top creator and has 18 months left on his deal. Ignoring form, I'd be asking for £1.5m+. Realistically I think we'll get £1m. Either way, with that said, he's one of the only assets worth that amount (we're not selling CT so only really Evans comes close IMO, maybe LT). Likewise, if Aaron wants to move on (Bolton will be Championship and the off-field allure of Wrexham is understandable) then let him go.
My primary concern is not selling Aaron Collins - it is replacing him. As others have said, led in force by Pirate, we do not have any form of recruitment structure behind the scenes and we're about to likely part ways with the current best creator in the third tier. We already struggle to create and score goals. Where are we going to replace what Collins CAN (and occasionally, this season, HAS) offer? I understand balancing the books (£1m or whatever the fee will be helps with FFP etc.) but we absolutely MUST sign a creative, goal-scoring striker. Sam Smith, Ali Al-Hamadi, Jake Young... whoever. We need a replacement.

We should take a sizable fee now for him as he's not going to improve his form with us now and if he's not sold during this window then his value will probably drop considerably in the summer. Thanks for your league 2 goals and the first half of last season but since then he's done very little for us and anything above £500k will be most welcomed.

I did say he appeared to be not interested for awhile. His mind has been elsewhere for awhile. If he has basically refused to put himself forward for selection today. That is so unprofessional and clearly he will never play in the blue and white quarters again.
