Massive loss. The best box to box midfielder we’ve had for quite some time

Good player but no good to us if he’s always a game away from a long term injury. Need to get him, Wilson, & Rossiter off the payroll asap - must be costing the club £500k a year between them in just wages only.

Yeah we have too many players who come in for a couple of games then are off injured for a month. You cant get any consistency when you are forced to make changes so often particularly in the defensive areas.
The thing is we knew many of them had a poor injury record when we signed them. Anyone can get injured, but some are more of a risk than others and we seem to take chances on too many of them at the same time.

Lazy recruitment and a reflection on what’s been allowed at the club for way way too long now. Changes required that means every change of manager doesn’t come with a huge overhaul that leaves us on the back foot going into a window.

Out of a possible 33 Rovers matches this season ( league & cups) George Friend 8 appearances James Wilson 17 Grant Ward 17 Jack Hunt. 15 All decent players but a bit of an expensive liability for a league 1 side.

I'd definitely take the 3 with the double figures in that list. Good players, worth the risk Friend i never really understood When you add in Rossiter, the problem is - too many risks. Dont think MT and Rovers will make this mistake again. Experienced players and young loans should compliment the core of our squad, we shouldnt be dependent on them again

The issue is do we have any system to identify these players. I have my doubts

Rossiter and Wilson granted seem to have missed more games than they’ve played , that’s certainly the case with Rossiter and probably Wilson too but Ward ? Dunno but he’s class and it’s a hamstring injury that players can pick up this time of year it’s not like his knees gone or something. Edit : just looked and he signed a year ago and played 19 out of 23 last season and has played 14 times this season so far so not exactly a sick note and shouldn’t be put in to that pigeon hole along with Wilson and Rossiter imo. Also he wasn’t necessarily injured for the games he’s missed , I can’t remember tbh.

I think the problem with players like Ward is that it always feels like he’s not far from a spell out due to his history. Unfair maybe? Yes I think so and I don’t think we’d be discussing this if we didn’t have several players who are often out injured.

Never know Rossiter might come back and become a regular for a long period of time, it would be the first time it’s happened but we all thought J Grants days were numbered and now he’s had a decent run of games without any problems. Watch this space (Think I might have just jinxed J Grant)

He played 6 games before that date, so a total of 17 games this season.
