Could he play the second striker role? I like his movement. I like his play in and around the box. The other options are out of form. Albeit I stil think Collins is quality.
Perhaps if we got a DM to play alongside Finley, we could put Macca and Evans to play a box midfield?

I like him arriving late from midfield. Looked like our only player with any pace yesterday and was always looking for the pass through the defence pointing to where he wanted it played. Hopefully fit for 90mins soon.

He's been brilliant last 2 games for me. Like the McCormick of the Garner season these last two games.

I was thinking yesterday about what was holding him back over the last 18 months. Lack of preseason last season? Injuries? Barton?
Last season FGR away was a horror show. Came on, gave away a penalty, couldn’t pass to a teammate and then Barton hauled him off after only about 10 minutes. Has done well to come back from that - it seemed as if Barton had sapped all of his confidence from him.
This season he has been unlucky with injuries but as with many others he looks like a different player under Taylor.

Trevor Clarke after giving him a new contract. McCormick after he made the wrong sub. And the LT one- after a player wanted to play in the team. Alot was made of that cameo but ultimately it was the wrong sub and the lad didn't get many chances outside of that.

To be fair, McCormick was starting to play well this season under Barton until he got injured.

To be fair, McCormick was starting to play well this season under Barton until he got injured. But that doesn't fit certain posters agendas, the fact LM sort out JB after he scored the winner at Charlton shows how much support he must have been giving him.

Yet he missed two good chances yesterday, if that was Collins there would be meltdown.

He's been brilliant last 2 games for me. It's funny how we all see things differently. To me, McCormick was wasteful, disinterested and lightweight yesterday. Time for a Specsavers trip.

I thought yesterday he tried to be creative and generally had a decent game.
v Norwich he was far more effective. Perhaps it would be worth a try being smart in matches and temporarily popping him up front to see how he gets on, but I always thought his instinctive position is playing behind the front line with an attacking remit.
Over the course of his permanent contract I feel he owes us more though.

I have to say realistically a midfield of Ward, Finley and Evans was far better than Grant, Evans and McCormick. Finley island Evans auto pick, and Ward is essential. We need defensive midfielders really.
McCormick I would say is vying for Evans role, as really are Brown, Collins, Vale, Thomas….we have a lot of options.
It’s a valid criticism of Barton to say this side is unbalanced with too many piano players and not enough piano carriers, even though I think he brought this club on light years, his ethos of keeping the ball the whole game lended to having too many ball players and not enough stoppers.

You can make that case but the reaction he had when he scored against Charlton was to run over to JB. Maybe that was misinterpreted as wanting to celebrate with a manager that had faith in him. It could just as well be telling a manager who didn't have faith in him to f**k right off?

We've just sent Bogarde & Wood back and lost Ward to injury & Finley to illness?? If Ward hadn't done his hamstring v Norwich we could well be looking forward to a trip to Anfield next week and a win yesterday. It seems always the case at Rovers in recent years in L1, we've a decent first 11 but lack any depth once we lose any players, perhaps that'll always be the case until we ever redevelop the Mem and match the top 8 teams for playing budgets.
