This was a squad put together to play possession football at the top end of the table.if the slide continues to a relegation battle they will not be the players to fight tooth nail and play ugly route one football.the club either has too pay big bucks to stabilise and get us up the table or get in some street brawlers to stop us dropping out of the division. Will be interesting to see what route they choose They are all professional footballers. If these players can't play a in a particular way/in a particular formation effectively, then either they should cancel their contract themselves or we should start taking internal disciplinary action against them for underperformance, the same as we would if they were performing badly in a manufacturing or retail job. At the end of the day it's a paid job and underperformance should not be tolerated... If only it was that simple. We went down with a wimper last time because players couldn't adapt to the battle.retail job in fashion is not the same as one at screwfix. Still the same industry

Still the same industry ...but why do we accept contracted sportsmen who can't do the job they are paid to do? They're not contracted to play under a certain manager in a certain style. We're not normally recruiting unknowns, if they are below their previous levels for whatever reason then there's a serious performance-related question that maybe we and many other clubs should be asking more...

Last night I had flashbacks to Mark McGhee’s brand of football Hit and hope long ball play Lump it up front and lose 95% of the headers or 2nd balls

He's quite a dull personality manager wise.
Least with Sir Joseph of Barton the post match interviews would be spicey.

The last 2 games particularly have been frustrating and boring to watch

it was dire last night but it wasn't long ball and second half still better than anything McGhee ever served up. Think we've forgotten just how bad those days were.
Feels like part of an idea that Taylor must be the complete opposite of Barton beyond just general personality - even the claim he's somehow 'posh'.

I dont find Taylor boring.
Rather listen to him than the wife beater harp on about the referee being pathetic, opposition managers being overweight, and slating his own players.
Taylor talks sense, dont think he BS' either. Think he has just been let down by board, and was downbeat after last nights result. I can't blame him.

If MT has been let down by the board I hope he is letting them know about it. You would hope he had been given assurances when he took on the job so if they have gone back on that he has every right to. Unless he is just a yes man

Taylor said in his post match interview ‘we looked tired, leggy and mentally & physically weak’. Surely that is criticising the players. He is a manager used to losing following his spell at Rotherham. He has been described on the forum by some as a ‘proper manager’. I see no evidence of this in January.

The guy hasn’t had one of his own signings yet!
He’s actually lost players and those he inherited hobble off every week!
I won’t be judging him until he’s given time to sign and develop his own team.
My only concern is that he’s so set in his wish to play 3-5-2 that he Isn’t able to get the best out of what we have.
We don’t have out and out wing backs in the squad. I think this team needs to be playing 4-2-3-1, be more solid and let players like Thomas, Azza, Evo and maybe Brown to play further up the pitch
Adding one or 2 bits of steel into that midfield 2 would give us the platform to express ourselves up top
Fingers crossed we get them in because that team that finished last nights game are relegation standard.

Last night was pretty awful.
However in my opinion games shouldnt be played in those conditions. It was a really bad game to watch (both sides).
Lots of players injured. Several loans have been returned. After the packed usual christmas fixtures Rovers then had a championship club twice and a saturday Tuesday combo...followed by this saturday. Thats a lot of fixtures over a short time for the key players. They looked tired on saturday the last thing they needed was a game in those conditions.
Im giving them a get out of jail free card. The squad needs a boost player wise immediately else i see a big defeat coming soon.

Inspiring interview again 🙄 he can blame the previous regime as much as he likes but at least they were able to generate a bit of fight

Inspiring interview again 🙄 he can blame the previous regime as much as he likes but at least they were able to generate a bit of fight My colleague’s comments are already starting to come true. Monotone Matt already isn’t taking responsibility. There’s a clear divide in his head and these interviews, between him and the players. A sh*te interview in my eyes. It’s fine to badmouth the previous regime, but that previous regime were able to get more of a tune out of roughly the same group of players. The difference being the players that he’s brought in. He should watch the Buckle interviews and start to bring out the ‘g’ word. Something isn’t right. I won’t yet say some aren’t playing for him, but it’s not far away.

Yeh - what's "not right" is this utterly appalling excuse of a squad your messiah put together on one of the biggest budgets in our history The worst thing to ever happen to this club.

I find it interesting that MT joined saying he couldn’t turn down an offer to work with this squad.
Anyhoo, Taylor was a defender, so should be able to coach this leaky defence and fix the issues. Then we’ve nothing to worry about. I’m looking forward.
