Spot on, there is no department. Fault lies at the foot of previous owner because we had one irrespective of what you think about TW. Wail allowed Barton to replace it with his mates which we all knew would evaporate when he left. Which it did, leaving us exposed once injuries struck. Current owners need to take a degree of responsibility. Once they had responsibility for the club they must have realised the position regarding recruitment and if they didn’t know that they should have been seeking advice from people who did know. Whatever, it needs to be sorted for the summer. Fingers crossed. UTG! This has to land at the door of Wael. We can put it down to naivity or incompetence. However, Wael ultimately made the decision to rip apart the strategy that he put in place only two years before. Yep and go all in on a lunatic and a golf club salesman.

From an objective POV we have a number of outstanding positions:
Assistant manager (Kevin Bond is interim) Head of recruitment First team analyst (Lewis Mahoney replacement?) Club secretary Financial controller/Head of finance Head of commercial Head of media Bar manager
Could add a first team coach to that list as Byron Anthony has been assisting, despite his role as Academy Manager.
Matt Taylor has added one coach in Jamie McAllister, but our club website doesn't have details of his position.
There appears to be a reluctance to recruit across all areas, obviously people can read into that what they want and as fans we are in the dark but we can acknowledge the vacancy situation.

What have the owners actually done to improve the recruitment department and scouting network? Whilst the stories about the new owner's son are concerning we need to bear in mind that Barton was pulling all the strings until he and his recruitment man Jennings left. Barton was happy with Jennings around but their dominance prevented a proper recruitment set up. The chances of putting together a recruitment team over Christmas and the New Year was virtually zero in fairness to the new owners as nothing could be done until Barton left. I suspect we have to struggle on until the summer break but if nothing is sorted by then there is a real concern. No sure who at the club has the know how and contacts to put together a recruitment structure but can only hope.

It took them 6 weeks to appoint a manager after offering it to Mangan and Monk simultaneously. If you think these guys have a DOF lined up when they can't get an assistant manager when it's been put on a plate for them then you're very mistaken. I wouldn't be surprised if Abdul was on Wyscout this morning trying do player recruitment himself.

It would be a good appointment if we could afford to sign 100 players in the hope one made it? Joking aside there's probably numerous people like Pirate around but it seems since Paul Molesworth left the club have shown no interest in having a scouting network. If the new owners are taking advice from Wael, do they even know what a Chief Scout does as I doubt Wael does?

Mangs wasn’t offered the job. Not sure where this rumour has came from but he wasn’t offered the position.

The reason being that JB seems to have lost the plot a little and I can't help think that he would love the opportunity to back up his mate and stick two fingers up to the ones who got rid of him. He hasn't though, which makes me question the 'Gaschat fact'.

No they gave Mangan and Whelo an on the job interview and promised it would be his if he got results, which they achieved, and then they reneged on the deal and Whelan walked out and left in disgust, its why Whelo left so abruptly. Just remember that people in football circles talk and Whelan is a very well respected player, person and as one PL club exec told me this week when I was with him, he will be a first class coach. He also said we were dumb for letting him go.
