As much as we all want to see our new signings on the pitch I think it would be unfair to start him today as he’s not really had the chance to train with his new teammates and there will be quite a bit of pressure to perform with all eyes on him. I’d rather he hit the ground running next week than get off to a slow start this week.

I've always thought that it would be better for new signings to make their debut away from home. But they always seem to make home debuts.

He’s been playing regularly for Grimsby I presume so he should be match fit , as long as he’s playing in the same position I’d put him straight in. We’ve signed him for a sizeable fee, so we must think he’ll be better than what’s here now. Put him in .

There’s a lot of expectation when someone comes in on a big fee. He’s coming in to a team low in confidence with a crowd that is showing signs of discontent. Looking at the bigger picture and thinking long term I think coming off the bench or waiting until next week could prove better for his Rovers career. It’s sometimes hard for a player to flourish after a slow start so we should give him the best chance of succeeding- but if needs must and we are still short (I hear other players have been ill this week) then MT might not have a choice but to start him.

No different from a loan player. If he is meant to be as good as they say chuck him in from the start. No point bringing him on if we are getting smashed 3.0.

Nature of deals. But on gaschat it’s salacious gossip. The owners idiot son f_cked up. But the player is here now, so all's well that ends well. care to explain to us mortals how he did this so we can understand better....

I want him to be a success for the whole duration of his time with us. If chucking him in without having got to know his teammates names or not having had a single training session is going to be detrimental to him I’m personally happy to wait a week. If he comes straight in and has a stinker, the team going behind and gets the moans and groans from the crowd that could get his Rovers career off to a slow, bad start. As I said earlier if MT feels we have no choice due to injuries and illness then needs must.

I have done Bristol Rovers and Grimsby as a double today, after the last week .
So you better win today , otherwise I will be on here having a meltdown .
Hopefully Kamil plays some part and a decent home win for you although Oxford are meant to be decent by the sound of it .

If it becomes 5 on the bounce today then I think most will be rightly displeased. 😂

Gordon made his debut away at Burton. Is a left backs job description easier than someone more central? The early sending off and goal helped though. Think the red was 40 seconds but that was the time for the ref to show it. The foul was more like 20 seconds. Play him and hope the attacking midfielders show for him. Link up play with Evan's could be a big thing today.

Nobody on here has any idea about what went on between us and Grimsby. Pure speculation because the talks dragged on that’s all. No doubt those in the know can let us know exactly what went on as I’m quite sure no one on here has signed a non disclosure agreement.

Brilliant debut. As I said in another thread: if you watch the game, you won't see Conteh but if you watch Conteh, you'll see the game. He was excellent at the unnoticeables today - the minor possession balls, simple forward-thinking passes and ushering attackers out of play. On that showing, we've got some player on our hands and a bargain price.

Released Finley (and obviously Evans) to be a lot more 'free'.

That said he chased as much as he could to correct his mistake. Won lots of battles, made space, his passing was simple but effective. Hes going to be a hell of a player for us.

Thought he had a good debut but I did feel he lacked pace when chasing his runner and not just once or twice but pretty much every time. It maybe down to not reading the game as quickly in this league but I'm sure it's more down to the lack of speed in his legs. I know it's only his first game for us today and it's only my one fault of his game today but thought I'd mention it and see if others agree with me?

FFS He had a really good first game and we won 3 -1 just enjoy it instead of trying to pick holes.
