Thought he had a good debut but I did feel he lacked pace when chasing his runner and not just once or twice but pretty much every time. It maybe down to not reading the game as quickly in this league but I'm sure it's more down to the lack of speed in his legs. I know it's only his first game for us today and it's only my one fault of his game today but thought I'd mention it and see if others agree with me? For sure he still has a lot to learn, but he is a young kid that hasn't yet played a season of league football. Seems very calm on the ball which is what many Grimsby fans said. He will only improve.

I had to watch on ifollow and was paying specific attention to him. Felt there was only really one time he lost a race. When Finley did the slide tackle. I think alot of the other times it was more a case of "passing his man on" Positional excellence today.

Brilliant debut. As I said in another thread: if you watch the game, you won't see Conteh but if you watch Conteh, you'll see the game. He was excellent at the unnoticeables today - the minor possession balls, simple forward-thinking passes and ushering attackers out of play. On that showing, we've got some player on our hands and a bargain price. Surprised some fans didn’t want him to start today. Not because he’s not good enough - he is clearly a talent and a good acquisition. Reservations on starting were based on if we carried in where we left off from the Exeter game he’d have been surrounded by poorly performing colleagues and a crowd turning on the team and booing them off again at half time if we were behind. That scenario could have damaged his career with us before it even had a chance to get started, fortunately his teammates actually turned up today and all is well. He’ll now be a fixture in the team and will only get better as he gets time to gel with his new team.

He has got what Bogarde lacks, awareness of what is going on around him, although both can improve and more than likely will.

If his football brain is quick then that’ll do.

His awareness is so so good and press resistance I think he will go far tbf . Not like us we lost and missed him badly , the double is down .

This isn't a dig its just an observation of him today cause I was like you and most of us today glued to watching his performance

He makes the game look simple and at his age will just develop more awareness and get better. Our team has needed his qualities for years, those attributes often get overlooked in favour of 40yrd passes and defence splitting through balls but you always need someone to patch it together. He looked like he was feeling his way in today and how well he can read the game will decide how far he can go imo. I saw someone from Grimsby describe him as a Rolls Royce and he does look in that mould. All the best for the rest of the season

And I think Taylor even suggested a little more physicality from his game was the ingredient he missed the most. But overall super impressed. 7.5 for me on debut.

We’ve been crying out for a solid defensive midfielder since Rossiter last got injured which must be around a year ago now. Decent debut.

I liked what I saw. Got involved, put his foot in and always seemed to be there where the ball was.
8 for Pox was good though, too.

Everything he did was just effortless.
He won’t get many headlines or win many MOTM awards, but he moves, anticipates and makes decisions like a player who’s destined for bigger things.
Let’s hope with us!

Interestingly a number of fans on Oxfords forum were very impressed with him, “ just the type of midfielder we need” was one of the comments. A very impressive debut, seemed to be very calm in everything he did, he reminded me of a much less frantic Abu Ogogo and clearly the better for it.

But he read the game good most of the time, so that should hopefully make up for the lack of pace. If he had pace, he would definitely be playing at a higher level already.

I think he will end up being one of those players where you don't realise how good he is until he ends up missing a game. A bit like when Rossiter got injured last season our midfield wasn't half as good without him. Only then did we realise how important he was to the team.

Well done Kamil; Imo a very solid debut, putting his foot in, doing a lot of the dirty work, nice to see a player who actually uses his neck muscles when heading the ball, stays calm on and without the ball, with a very good short range of crisp and controlled passes; look forward to seeing him on repeat next week against the Grecians.
