Very much of the optimist/pessimist is down to the owners and Manager as well as the players. I still believe that when you look at the squad we now have we are in a reasonably good place and I certainly dont think there is any need for a complete clear out in the summer. Obviously with six loans there are probably going to be the six leaving although evidence of recent times are that at least one of them will come back probably as a permanent even another loan. Of the rest of the squad at least to compare to previous years most if not all of the 18 are capable of playing League 1 football. Personally i would like to see a return to having mostly permanent signings. The lacking at the moment of strikers is to me a very negative point and i think is the reason that many supporters have given up on this season completely. The loss of form in the new year together with the failure to bring in a striker brought about our inability to reach the 75 per cent capacity on the new stand. With a sensible head the Play offs are probably out of reach unless we have a run of astonishing results. A marque signing of a striker would have created a greater belief in the owners but who knows perhaps at least one of the new boys is going to prove a marque signing.

Game at a time.
All eyes on Fleetwood & Charlie Adam’s mob for me. No further than that

Isn't Martin a marquee signing of sorts? Let's face it if we'd signed JCH this week the Play offs would still be only a remote possibility, the only way we can really make them is if Stevenage, Oxford and Blackpool all basically stop gaining points.

An optimist will say we can make the playoffs. A pessismist thinks we are in a relegation battle. A realist looks at the table and says that, despite the position, a 12 point gap to the play offs looks like a bloody difficult challenge. Similarly a 12 point gap to the drop is probably going to take a 2000 style collapse to fall into the trap. We’ll finish between 8th and 13th, just enjoy the ride for the rest of the season. I agree with most of this analysis. I would add that I have not, in my personal or work life, met many successful people who are pessimists. I am also certain that pessimistic drainers in the dressing rooms of all football clubs won’t be part of any club in play off positions or winning championships. In sport, negative thinking does not create or inspire champions. The best managers create an attitude of mind that separates the best from the rest. I just find that drainers tend to suck the energy out of the room, the dressing room and conversations in life. Best of luck to them. I personally wouldn’t want any of them in my dressing room. When I’m busily thinking that we might just achieve the play offs I don’t want the distraction that might just question my hope. To be honest, if I was manager I would firstly try and change these drainers or if I couldn’t I’d change them for someone else or leave them out of the squad. I know lots of pessimists but as we all know I’m a fan of winners and optimistic people. They help me feel better about life. Like you I’m going to enjoy the ride any who knows where it might take us. You are confusing the dressing room with Gaschat, for the umpteenth time, Rich. What we think and say on here and whether we are pessimists or rays of sunshine has little or nothing to to do with the attitude of the players. Positive attitudes on the pitch can and do deliver benefits. Positive attitudes on Gaschat deliver the square root of fek all. You can dream and dream and dream all you like and I'll read what you say, but why is it always about a winning mentality? We're not playing. We're not in the management team. I genuinely think you believe that if we all concentrate really hard and think positive we can get the team promoted. It doesn't work that way.

I genuinely think you believe that if we all concentrate really hard and think positive we can get the team promoted. It doesn't work that way. You are absolutely right it doesn’t work that way. I, for sure, know that gaschat being positive does not get team promoted. That would be completely daft. I am sorry you interpret my musings as the believe that if we all think positively the team will be promoted. That is too simplistic for me. I pretty certain that some players take a look at our comments on here. I hope they enjoy the rays of sunshine. I’ll keep on dreaming. I have done for over fifty years. A winning mentality is what we are building on and off the field. If a winning mentality is good enough for Klopp it’s good enough for me. Enjoy your week.

I’ve been positive since Barton went, and I felt right to call the owners out in support of the manager.
Truly feel like we have our Rovers back, we have a manager now who knows he’s employed to deliver success for this club and its fans, it’s not about him, it’s not about his opinion on everything outside of his job role.
Good post Rich, we all know what you are like, win Tuesday night and your promotion bus will be out, we love it! M
My Gas mates laugh at me when I say we will be in the Championship within 2 1/2 years!

It would be completely insane if we reached the play offs. It’s of course, unlikely. Doesn’t stop us believing and dreaming though. Some say I’m a dreamer but I know I’m not the only one. Here’s to a victory on Tuesday.

Our fanbase are a mix of optimistic hopeful fans, pessimistic ones fearing the worse and the majority that are rational human beings building their views based on the facts. Like all fan bases. The rational ones provide calm to the more emotional outbursts seen on here from people like me. The facts really matter. There is room on here for all of us. I am also pretty certain that the silent rational majority read stuff on here and don’t comment. These are in the hundreds. I’m delighted that the rational ones in the majority bring calm to my more excitable thoughts. I always value their views on here as they help me think and help me understand different thoughts. This week the hopeful ones are living the moment. Let’s make a few more weeks of how we feel today. Enjoy the week. Good post richhertford. I enjoy your positivity so keep it up. Lifts the mood on here after a defeat. I flit between up and down about this club very quickly. Can't help it they mean so much to me it's hard to stay rational sometimes. Ps. There's not a fuc*ING chance were making the play offs 😃 Ditto Bro, we both know it’s the Autos.

Don’t change Rich there is nothing wrong with being positive. There is much to be positive about at the moment so why not focus on the positive. There is probably no evidence that positive thinking can actually improve ours or any situation, but it does make you a little happier.

The sort of games we’ve struggled in They will play long, be ugly, get in our faces I’m encouraged by recent defensive performances, need to keep Wilson and Friend fit as a regular back 3 will create confidence and stability. Quietly confident we can out play both, new faces add a bit of pace and unpredictability. UTG

I call BS on this. The reason why we couldn't get 75% was simply due to our lack of planning skills.

What will tonight's attendance be even with them, 8,000+?

What will tonight's attendance be even with them, 8,000+? I think you are falling into the same trap as Rovers did. You are assuming that it needed to be organic traffic into the stand. They could've engineered a situation that guaranteed to fill the stand to 75%. I think what happened was the Norwich game took everyone by surprise and we were on the back foot from that point. What if when people came through the gate for Norwich, they were given a voucher for a £5 seat for the next game? Or maybe the Exeter game could have 1000 tickets given to local schools. Or maybe, we should have realised that evening games traditionally have a lower attendance. Maybe Oxford should have been the 75% from the start and Burton the 100%. Then the stand would be at 100% capacity before the Derby game. I liked the quid a kid at the Oxford game. Without sounding too much like a paedo, it was great to have a noticeable increase in young fans around the place.
