Damn it started as such as an exciting season in that league with all the local sides. First Taunton now Torquay. The south west really is a footballing backwater.

They're in a dark place, but he was trying to get his hands on the Plainmoor freehold. If anyone there was thinking he'd build them a new stadium once he'd sold off Plainmoor they may have been in for a shock. This outcome is probably the least worst for them long term, in that he's gone

I wonder who at Torquay thought it was a good idea to sell the club to somebody who'd over seen both Rovers and Swindon Robins made homeless!! Rochdale also have serious financial issues: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68353473

So the poison dwarf / rat has left the sinking ship. Appears that the Johnson boys are just that and have no guts for the fight , not for the first time

Glad Johnsons gone, but what a mess Torquay are in. Will be trying to go down there soon when Rovers are away. Got to keep my home town club alive.

More importantly, what do you think the score will be v Avery in Saturday as that's in predictions thread?
I've plumped for an away win? Misery loves company.

Would you @topper, rather we kept Eastville and owed £5m? or homeless like we were but reasonably debt free under the Dunfords?

The huge wages paid in the Premiership has filtered down even in non-league football and for many club the cost to simply compete in a particular league is unsustainable without a very wealthy and generous owner. We dream of championship football but where would the money comes from to pay the £500,000 a year wages many players would demand. How can we afford the £250,000 a year a goodish league 1 player can demand. Even in the national average players can demand £50,000 plus a year and the good ones a lot more. I just don't get how is sustainable without a billionaire backer. The difficulties at Taunton and Torquay are party down to poor management but also the simple fact they cannot afford players that would keep them at that level or progress.

Just been reading up on Clarke Osborne. I didn't realise he had involvement with us and his history is one of disasters at every club he's been involved with. He shouldn't be allowed near any football club.
All the best to Torquay, hopefully admin is the turning point.

You do know we didn’t own Eastville, don’t you? I thought we did and then sold it to the grey hound company. Maybe I am wrong, around 1940?] I suppose the question is, would you rather we were in the situation that Torquay is in, or would you rather the situation that we were in?
