Shame regards Torquay Utd. Always have had a little soft spot for this club. I pray a miracle happens for them

Just been reading up on Clarke Osborne. I didn't realise he had involvement with us and his history is one of disasters at every club he's been involved with. He shouldn't be allowed near any football club. All the best to Torquay, hopefully admin is the turning point. He was part of the company that owned Eastville and forced us out by raising the rent. Even when he did so much to harm us, the club nearly got back in bed with him in the late 1990s/early 2000s with the South Gloucestershire Arenas Ltd [Company number 03363643] project to build a stadium in or around Avonmouth. That involved Geoff Dunford & Toni Watola [BRFC], Steve Lansdowne [City82], and Clarke, amongst others.....

And they lost to Taunton Town, who have their own problems, at home 0-3 last night. Well done Taunton. 😀 UTG!

Being a Torquay fan I knew the deduction was coming. Don't know how they're going to get out of it. Looking to go down there now Reading is off.

Being a Torquay fan I knew the deduction was coming. Don't know how they're going to get out of it. Looking to go down there now Reading is off. They still aren’t in the bottom 4 so it’s still in their own hands to avoid relegation. Hard to say but it was always going to get worse before it gets better and perhaps what’s happened will be a new start for them. Avoid relegation, which they will, and hopefully new owners come in and give then some stability and a basis to start building again. I’m sure the crowds will be maintained and may even grow in their hour of need. I’d say a fans owned club might be for them but they’ve tried that before and I don’t think (others will know the story better) it worked that well before their lottery winner took them over (?) and it wasn't able to be sustained when he died. (?) Good luck to them. UTG!

You do know we didn’t own Eastville, don’t you? I thought we did and then sold it to the grey hound company. Maybe I am wrong, around 1940?] I suppose the question is, would you rather we were in the situation that Torquay is in, or would you rather the situation that we were in? No idea what you are asking, I'm not sure anybody wants to be in Torquay's position as there's a real danger they could become the next Bury or Hereford.

The huge wages paid in the Premiership has filtered down even in non-league football and for many club the cost to simply compete in a particular league is unsustainable without a very wealthy and generous owner. We dream of championship football but where would the money comes from to pay the £500,000 a year wages many players would demand. How can we afford the £250,000 a year a goodish league 1 player can demand. Even in the national average players can demand £50,000 plus a year and the good ones a lot more. I just don't get how is sustainable without a billionaire backer. The difficulties at Taunton and Torquay are party down to poor management but also the simple fact they cannot afford players that would keep them at that level or progress. Perhaps we need to ask Luton how they managed it as I don't believe they've gone a wealthy benefactor throwing money at them. Plymouth also seem to have an owner no wealthy than our own.

Given like every club they are restricted to the number of loanees who can appear in the match day squad there must be more to it than just using quality loan players.

Last season (sixth in the Championship, promoted via the playoffs) their loan players were Horvath in goal (44 games), Drameh at full-back with 16 starts and Nakamba in midfield with 17 starts. No other loanees and apart from the keeper those other two weren't really an integral part of the team across the whole season... The season before that (where they also finished sixth in the Championship) they again only had three loanees, Steer started three games in goal, Parmer and Ingram both started two games in goal. No outfield loanees.

I see Torquay have been deducted 1 point for fielding an illegible player.Huge game for them tonight away to Taunton town, win and they are safe but a loss will see Taunton leapfrog them and Torquay will drop into the last relegation place with just 1 game left to play.

Taunton are 0-0 with Weston atm. Really need to win this for the extra two points to give them a chance on Saturday against Hemel Hempstead. Win that and they survive. I know many aren’t interested but it is Torquay related. 😉

Oh dear a late winner for Weston. Taunton are down. A shame but after a good year last season and a great start this, they were top in September, their best players were attracted away to other teams which together with their ground condition problems and their financial stuff were just too much to overcome. Perhaps they can do something next season.
UTG!
