Always way out front in the annual fitness test at Lillishall. I'm getting confused CG (nothing new there). It was Jarnail Singh that would always stop for a beer. He was a dismal ref and a lovely bloke. Gurnham (unrelated), I never met, but did see him smile at the song. š Can still see him looking across at the Popular Side grinning. Hope he appreciated it in the light hearted way I remember it was meant.

Still no idea why some call him monotone. Thought today's presser was not monotone at all. Perhaps some struggle with any accent north of Yate.

in our Charity shop in Sidmouth we had a Glaswegian with the most difficult accent the ladies on the till had ever encountered. They rang for assistance and I spoke to him but it was so extreme I asked him to spell certain words. It was still very difficult to understand so I asked ,'is that 'A' or 'E'? He replied ,'E' as in Apple. True story so I put on my broadest Bristolian accent and we had a gert laugh.

To be honest anyone following Barton is going to sound dull. Not that its a bad thing. I personally like the way he talks about the game, players and opposition.

I don't think he is monotone at all . However if you were refering to Paul Trollope that is a different matter. I imagine some of his team talks would send the players to sleep!

Taylor loves to praise the opposition. All the opposition manager has to do is play his team talks and say ā there you go lads, heās practically said we are better than them, a they have no confidence the shirt is heavy bla bla blaā nothing wrong with respecting the opposition but I wish the bloke would stop blowing smoke up their arse itās starting to wind me up now.

Barton was a gob sh**e who not only liked the sound of his own voice and opinion, but used 50 words when a couple will do. MT is a straight talking northerner who isnt a wordsmith or wannabe poet/literate/academic. He just talks football which makes total sense.

I don't think I've ever hated anybody in my life, life too short to hate people, anyway you seemed to like what I was posting about JB in the past from one of your many deleted accounts: "I like how you ask questions of Barton as well, itās quite refreshing you are not brainwashed. Hope you are well mate Paul" I applauded you for questioning a narcissist, a man who hits women and people on a street on a night out, and letās not forget humiliating club staff. The word hater might have been the wrong one but your negativity towards Matt Taylor hasnāt been justified. I said 4 weeks ago on this forum, give the man time, some patience and his own window. 1.56 PPG with a side inherited is 71.76 points of over calendar season. So admit I was right to say he needed respect and time? And Wareham, I was at Nuneaton, Braintree and Altrincham, the last two were the lowest this club has ever been, I saw the fans try and get on the team bus as well that season. But back then we had a manager driven by failure the season before, brought to tears over it. Yes we struggled at the start of that season and it felt like we truly lost our Rovers, it was never about him, for DC it was all about us fans and this club and he deliveredā¦ā¦..But under the last manager, it was all about him, players sent for therapy, we donāt need to say what he said and got up to, by saying we have our Rovers back, we have a manager who an under 16 child can look up to, would you want your child to see Joey Barton as a role model? The kids are the future of this club as well. Weāve Got Our Rovers Backā¦ā¦..and I stand by it Letās go by facts hereā¦ Did Barton get charged for hitting his wife then? Iām sure Joey got his team mate on a night out but then again if somebody intentionally set my shirt on fire Iād probably do the same. No doubt heās a very outspoken man who doesnāt mince his words but itās better to know who somebody is than have somebody who wears many masks š.

They certainly will and thatās the love of the sport. As Iāve said in my above post, there is nothing wrong with respecting your opponent but It is in my opinion that I feel he gives the opposition too much praise. Iām not a professional footballer but I am at a fairly good level with boxing and if my coach blew smoke up my opponents arse as much as Taylor did then Iād find it very demotivating.

This post is hilarious. I quite like the idea of teams turning up thinking they've already won. Take that over previous situations where the managers comments has wound up the players and fans. That is really when the manager has done the team talk for the opposition.

If you were a player, would you be more motivated by: 1. Playing a team that you have been told would be easy to beat. 2. Playing a team where their manager has called your team a bunch of cheats and divers and that your team can't play proper football and have no chance of getting any thing from the game? EDIT You mention that you are a boxer? THE Gasman? When you have an opponent, are you more motivated to knock out the boxer of a mouthy manager who says you are sh.it or the boxer of the manager who heaps praise on you and that it will be easy for you to win?

It seems the latest trend in L1 for managers to praise their opponents before a match, I've no idea why anybody takes any notice of what's said as it hardly seems to have any effect on the game. At least MT is happy to give us injury updates not like DC where he refused to give any updates on players injuries.

I think it will change next season though when he has his own team and there is more at stake. Personally it doesnt bother me either way, although it does make it more interesting not knowing who is available until you get to the ground. Decent info for bets though!

That is really when the manager has done the team talk for the opposition. Barton used to do the opposition team talk for them. It usually included something like: "Our players are better than them" "Their formation doesn't work if you want to play football" "They don't like to play proper football" "I can see why so and so beat them" "Their manager isn't as good tactically as me" "You can see why their players haven't played any higher" If I was an opposition manager my team talk would be playing his pre match presser and then saying to my team, go and prove that prick wrong lads. .

You do know that it's when players think they have won already, when it's a problem. That's why you get cup upsets etc, as the players are not motivated and think they can stroll to a win. So I'm not sure how praising you the opposition, is going to make them play betterš¤£. Plus, when he's praised teams above us, haven't we gone on to beat them a lot of the time and struggled against the teams below us?? When you tell the opposition they are not as good as you, is when they are fired up.
