You couldn't make it up, a player who seems to disappear with the slightest injury now gets rewarded with a senior role at the club. Just when you thought we couldn't employ somebody worse than TW to head up recruitment, we've managed to do it! You have evidence of this ? care to post any links or are you just full of innuendo again As Historians say, we are living in a post truth era where an opinion overrules facts and supposition overrules knowledge. What would an experienced footballer/coach who has played at all levels, is a member of the PFA, UEFA coach qualified, has a wide range of contacts through his own football financial advisory and property business; know about football, communications and using his network? Bugger all, apparently..... For information About My career in elite professional football, encompassing over 500 1st team games and spanning two decades, has provided me with many rewarding experiences and highlights, including three promotion-winning campaigns and a large number of personal accolades. It has also given me the opportunity to play under and learn from a host of successful and high-profile managers who have all helped shape my own football philosophies. As I move into my mid-30s and the closing chapter of my playing career, I am now seeking to embark on new and exciting challenges within the football industry. I have a keen interest in many different aspects of the game, particularly recruitment and the management of player loans, and I have added to my bank of qualifications by recently attaining my UEFA A Licence in coaching as well as a Certificate in Football Marketing & Management. The knowledge and expertise I have accumulated during my career, not only within football but also as owner and director of two successful business ventures, has equipped me with a strong and transferrable skillset. A media degree has enhanced my communication skills, I have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities as a club captain and my business interests have enabled me to become proficient in administrative tasks and financial planning. My passion for football still burns as brightly as it did when I was a 17-year-old making my debut for Exeter City in 2005. I am proud of my record of having played at every level of English football – from the Conference to the Premier League – and I believe my enthusiasm, energy and strong work ethic helps generate a positive response from others.

George Friend is going to be head of recruitment according to the post. Thoughts on this?? He has played at a number of clubs and levels, so he should have good contacts. But at the same time, he has no experience of the role. We need someone, but time will tell if he's the right person for the job. A job for a friend.

Had a look on Linkedin, very impressive, not your average footballer, could be a real asset to the club. Absolutely agree, a superb profile. He clearly sees this as the next step and I hope he can make a real impact. If he does of course I suspect his ambition and drive will see him move onwards and upwards quite quickly but let's see. Very positive. Yeah, and if he signs any players from previous clubs, it will be classed as Friends Reunited.

I’d imagine this appointment will coincide with retirement from playing. He’s got a lot of experience and contacts and will presumably have impressed the club with his knowledge. No reason to think this won’t be a success. Yeah I agree , he’s knows his body isn’t up to it anymore as he keeps breaking down. Could be a very shrewd appointment as he’s got vast experience and should know plenty of players and good contacts.

Only minor but again news leaked through the local press/radio interviews, just like other appointments this season. How hard is it for the club to communicate properly?
Wish Friend the best of luck and hopefully he will be given the resources to build a proper team.

Don't go to university or college and get yourself those qualifications! They will do you no good whatsoever, trust your Uncle Topper, he knows!

Matt Taylor “ what’s your opinion on player X Tops ?” Topper “ I’ve got about 5 different opinions, which one do you want?”

Best of luck to him - let's hope that Roady doesn't tell us that fraud has been committed by employing him again.

Something he's obviously been working on and towards for awhile, a pathway after playing and whilst staying in the game.
Good luck to him and the club, i can't imagine he would have been given the role on a whim and may have some sort of probation period over the summer to prove himself you'd think

At least he cant get injured doing this....or can he? Hopefully the club will give him a nice safe company car like a Volvo. He’s obviously been around the block in football and will have made contacts but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be able to spot good potential for us. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Just when you thought we couldn't employ somebody worse than TW to head up recruitment, we've managed to do it! So even if he could potentially be really good in such a position you would reject him purely out of spite and to teach him a lesson for having some injuries late in his career. Great logic. What makes you so confident that he will be worse than TW? I guess you know a lot more about his skills and knowledge than the rest of us? Perhaps you would like to expand on that? Another topper classic Eric!

This really is the biggest bunch of bollox I've ever read! This will never be beaten!". Then BAM. You manage it again. Fair play.
