When have Rovers ever had real football money owners, all we can hope is that they do have a vision to get us to the Championship, or at least progress the club. At least we have finally got one new stand open, the time line for starting work on the new one seems reasonable and until we've seen the plans we can hardly dismiss it as a Carlisle bodge job. Regardless if we do eventually get a 16,000 capacity ground we can start competing with the top 6 L1 sides. Problem is next season and the one after could be dead seasons, although Rovers always flatter to deceive, and it wouldn't take much to take us from mid table to top 6 challenging next season. Carlisle have a 17,000 capacity and are bottom of the table.

It's really only constant social media that makes fans (of all clubs) over think everything. UTG

The two things that top my meh-o-meter at the moment is the defending and the atmosphere at the mem.
Seems inevitable that the other team will score and has been like that all season. So when it happens I just shrug now. Same issues with individual mistakes or getting to the ball second are very annoying and the reason we are destined for midtable.
The atmosphere at the mem has been poor all season too imo. Rarely takes more than 10 minutes into a game before some sausage stood nearby starts calling for the managers head or some unfair/ridiculous criticism of a player's pass or decision. I look forward to us scoring just to shut them up for a few minutes. Usually the player they're berating is the one who makes a goal. Read Finley (when he came back into form), Martin (what does he actually do except score goals?), Brown (shut em up on Saturday), Grant (I'm now agreeing with them on that one to be fair).

Whilst our season may not mean much now, we play at lot of sides who do, Bolton, derby, Cheltenham, reading etc.
So they’ll be good games. Remember the 3-4 loss to Millwall

Spot on. But didn't Jevani Brown's assist on Saturday make your heart sing? Great bit of skill, almost like being in the Premier for a nano second. (Not really, and I stand in the Thatcher's and my eyesight's not what it was. ) As you say, enjoy the ride. Moments of joy when they come are few and far between for fans like us but when they do arrive...

It's probably at Championship level where it'll become more limiting.

Carlisle have a total population of 74,000 about a tenth the size of just Bristol alone, there's a slim chance they'll fill that regularly. So what do you think the owners should do just keep the Mem capacity at 12,000?

Here we are moaning about capacity before it’s even happened I agee with others the 2 biggest disappointments have been our leaky defence meaning the clean sheets have been rare and is reflected in our goal difference. It also means that added pressure is put on our forwards to score and as you know until Martins arrival we have been so so wasteful. The second disappointment has been the atmosphere- we all know the roar of the Mem when we get going and the same was at Twerton and Eastville which has been invariably stated by any new arrivals or visiting managers that they found the place intimidating. Now I guess any visiting managers says to their team prematch- go get that early goal and their crowd will then go quiet and turn on the players. Job done.

The 2 Xmas games vs Pompey and Charlton were superb. Proper Mem nights out.

Bit of a weird thread this, we've played one more game than exactly a year ago, 5 more points, a place higher in the league and last year we were about to go on a run that saw us get 8 points from the last 9 games. There's an interesting narrative developing around Taylball.

Yep, lots of football yet to come. Whilst I appreciate some who feel a bit meh towards the rest of this season and of course everyone has an opinion etc. etc. But we’re twelfth, which is one of our best positions in League 1 this century. Last season and this we’ve established ourselves in League 1 with no relegation worries and the owners seem to have plans for us. All of which makes the negative views a tad strange. Of course in a relatively weak League 1 I can appreciate those who wished for a better position but it is what it is. A new stand, nearly breaking our transfer record on a very good player who should do well for us before we sell him for a few million (😉), and no relegation worries. All that makes it a very good season with a promise of more to come, imo. For various reasons this season I’ve not seen as many games but those I have travelled to have been occasions which I’ve just tried to enjoy and make a day of it. Apart from the Exeter at home match I’ve been pretty lucky. UTG! There is a bit of a mini league with Leyton Orient and Northampton. It is interesting that you are factually correct that it should turn out to be one of our best seasons for over 20 years, we all should be jumping up and down signing and dancing. I don't think we are though. Is it social media and the lack of patience that people have these days? Is it the premiership? Yes, I think you’re right. All those things have meant expectations amongst gasheads rise. And you’re spot on about the mini-league with those two. And I expect most of us will expect us to finish higher than both of them and that will make expectations even more exacting. I think expectations are greater now as fans exposure to all those things you mentioned has grown. I’d be nervous about saying a lack of patience because so many fans have spent a lifetime being patient, but we’ve had so many re-sets that I’m sure that’s contributed to where we are. That’s why now, I just try and enjoy the day out, having a chat to other fans and generally enjoy the experience. UTG!

This is what happens when hopes get built up and dashed.
JB spent all summer bigging everything up, telling everyone how great we were going to be, how we were better than everyone else, how he was more tactically astute than every other manager, discrediting and disparaging the tactics and formations of other managers and how when this teamed gelled we would be punching for promotion.
Fair play, he was great at getting fans to believe his little fantasy, but the reality is who he signed and how he managed them wasn't anywhere near the level.
As a result we all feel a bit meh.
Add into that, the new ownership have come in and not really done anything to engage, plan or show they look like they know what they are doing.

Manager name free thread? Ban me. Oh wait... Actually, what happens if a mod steps out of line and posts something against the rules or is a Richard ? Do the others decide and it’s done on a majority vote ?
